That really does seem to be the Republican Party's strategy now: let Trump lose this year, so that when we really start getting hammered with the long-term effects of the pandemic next year, you can blame it all on Biden, and then re-take the White House in 2024.  Maybe even use it to try to re-take the House and/or the Senate (if the Senate is lost in 2020) in 2022.

farking hell, we're putting the goddamn cart before the horse again. I'm starting to get a 2016 vibe about this. NOTHING matters until we ALL vote for Joe Biden.

It's pretty obvious that everything that has happened in the last four years is all going to be Biden's fault.

If Biden loses, you expect any change in accountability?
This is why Biden needs to win, and they need to forget the whole "let's focus on moving forward" crap where criminals don't get charged. There needs to be a massive push for investigations and prosecutions of the crooked pieces of shiate that have had over three years to pillage our government. If you farkers don't realize that keeping Trump and the GOP Senate from holding on is priority number one, then consider 2020 the warmup for the BS that's set to happen.

How many seconds into the Biden administration do you think it would be before deficits matter again?

Leave this mess for Joe is the 2020 Trump campaign slogan.

Honestly, the precedent set by the lack of accountability for both the WMD lies and the GFC catalysts (more lies) is dangerous. Kumbaya is going to cause more problems than it supposedly prevents (conservative outrage) this time.

Negative 2.5 months. At least.

The GOP were already blaming Obama Socialism for stock market losses the day after the 2008 election, and they're ALREADY blaming Biden for everything wrong with the economy.

In two weeks all the unemployed are going to lose the extra $600 they are getting!

Shiat is going to hit the fan at that point.

This administration hasn't done anything to help the country, nothing, he could have done such simple things and come out of this crisis looking mostly sane, but no, unless everyone is licking is arse, then everyone can just go die.

Though I hear he is thinking of letting people who pay capital gains tax not have to pay it.

Clinton cleaned up HW Bush and Regan's less. Obama cleaned up w bush and cheney's mess.

The Republicans have become exceedingly efficient at rendering a healthy economy derelict. But the Democrats always seem to right the ship.

Breaking this pattern is more possible if the perpetrators are held accountable. Haul 'em in, bury 'em all in subpoenas and charges, hearings all around. Make it public record that an unqualified candidate who placed in the top two in an election with no previous experience or knowledge of the job, or how the government works, was propped up and permitted to play with the country's valuables in a sandbox without supervision or oversight.

No literal pitchforks and guillotines - just a coming together to depose and lock away elements detrimental to our democracy. Let 'em die in prison.

I know it risks a bad precedent, that if the GOP ever regained a majority, they'd turn up the fascism to 11venty brazillion, but maybe the just actions of a democratic majority could stall the festering of such a thing for a while longer.

Yeah that cannot happen again.  The crimes of the last 4 years need to be investigated and prosecuted.  If the whole tRump empire is not destroyed after this then the US has no real Law & Order, it just has two classes of people, one shot by cops, the other free to do what ever they like.

Conthan: I've noticed a few of the churches on my routes that got loans have teams of contractors doing renovations on their campuses.

Not sure how they justified the loans but as least that money is being spent and circulating and keeping people employed. How many billions went to stock buybacks that benefited those who need it the least?

In most modern western democracies that is actually possible, you can remove a government at anytime once they fark up badly enough.  Alas all of them have modern constitutions, not one written by slave owners.

I told myself that too, at least those contractors are getting some work. However, I'd rather those contractors work on some projects that improve infrastructure instead, or other useful projects instead of making a huge church building (suburban megachurches) even gaudier.

And with 20 to 30 million homeless looming by Labor Day, there is literally going to be a current of rage in the streets. And they're not going to be content with some slick answers.

If this keeps on the way it's going, it's seriously going to fully turn into a mid 90s Sim City Gone Sideways.

That's because the banks would rather process one ten billion dollar loan than a hundred thousand $100,000  loans.  Same commission and a lot less work (aka few employees to impact executive bonuses).

It's always been interesting to me that, when we "bring democracy" to other countries, they set up UK-style parliamentary governments instead of a US-type system.

An interesting list of nations with similar style governments.
