So it's an infomercial for NBC's streaming service?

Lame.

They might be able to make it funny, but it will probably end up like those Amy Poehler Xfinity ads.  Pee-yew.

I'll stick to the 30 Rock DVD set.

30 Rock is like Seinfeld and Friends. It had its time, you've your box sets and streaming and shiat. Enjoy those and let it rest in peace.

Never watched 30 Rock when it first aired, my wife and I decided to try streaming it, and we didn't get past the second episode. We didn't laugh at all, and the constant, jingly mood music was a huge turnoff. Guess you had to be there.

So they're gonna pass on the special, which advertises the streaming service which they believe takes away viewers by forcing viewers to go to the streaming service to watch it...

Genius.

That's not true. 30 Rock is funny.

Friends was terrible. Newsradio and 3rd Rock From the Sun were better than that turd and belong in NBC's pantheon of great sitcoms next to 30 Rock and Seinfeld.

Like most shows, the first few episodes are weak. Start with season 2 to be safe, then go back to season 1 later. It's worth it.

The 30 Rock special is also NBC's upfronts where they'll show clips of upcoming fall and mid-season replacement series as well as I'm sure Peacock will be mentioned.  Usually Upfronts are only shown internally and to advertisers and the press.

I like how the head of Peacock keeps saying it's free free free.  Yeah, it's free if you don't value your time and are willing to watch 20+ minutes/hour of ads for things you'll never buy.

Guessing on the 20 minutes, they haven't said.  But odds are that's on the low end rather than the high end.

/ Oh, it won't be available on Roku

I feel like they used to run those on the air a lot in the '80s.

If Peacock has less ads than the Roku channel or Crackle, I'm in even if I have to cast it to my Roku TV.

Next to 30 rock,  Seinfeld was bad and unfunny.

They usually do a fall TV special showing the new series coming down the pike: unfortunately with Covid that has changed things.

NBC? I coulda sworn they were bought out by Kabletown, a subsidiary of the Shinehardt Wig Co.

The first season was pretty uneven, like most TV shows except the truly brilliant high-concept ones (Like Fargo) it took awhile to setlle down.  It became the one of best comedies I've seen for short stretches over it's run (Much like Community, Parks and Rec, Rewsradio, KITH), well worth trying again.

I'm still convinced most of the viewing public has no idea how that was the most filthy thing to ever get past a network censor, anywhere, ever.

Tina Fey made an effort to occasionally sneak surprisingly dirty references into the show. But if you didn't know the reference, it was just a cute 'ha-ha' moment.

30 Rock was like Firefly in that it had a loud vocal fanbase, but not a large fanbase.  30 Rock was never a top 10 show.  It was barely a top 10 show on the night it aired.  It stayed on because it was a critical darling that won awards and Tina Fey had naked pictures of the head of NBC.

Your mistake was not starting with Tracy Does Conan. That's when the series found its legs. Parks and Rec also took a while to get going.

I don't like a certain sitcom so that makes me "joyless"?

Well, your comment is a bunch of shiat since all we watch are comedies and spend our days making each other laugh. Just finished watching all of Parks and Recreation, which we loved, now watching Last Man on Earth, which is really good.

30 Rock is fun for a first time binge, but the topical humor and stunt casting don't hold up the second time around. Parks and Rec (second season and after), though are perfectly rewatchable.
