You don't say!! It's almost like the purpose of the program was to funnel more money to the Grifter in Chief and his buddies.

Summoner101: You don't say!! It's almost like the purpose of the program was to funnel more money to the Grifter in Chief and his buddies.

Pelosi wanted boilerplate employee protections attached to the money, McConnell said no.  So businesses get the money and fire as many employees as possible and are now using their attorneys and the force majeure clauses in their agreements and bankruptcy to bail.
The President has no idea what he is doing.  Right now he and Stephen Miller are gathering drivers license data to sent to ICE and deport illegals.  He could care less about the coronavirus or the economy.
Does anyone seriously think that businesses are going to be hauled into court if they fire a few too many employees?  That would make the President feel bad inside, and appeasing the President's ego is our top political priority in this country right now.

The point of this bill was to bail out Trump's golf courses. Every other benefit was a smokescreen to hide that fact.

I listened to that Slow Burn podcast a while back and one of the minor details that stuck with me was the person who wore a Nixon mask and prison stripes in front of the White House with a sign saying Honk if You Think Nixon Should Go To Jail (or something like that). And I imagine dozens of Donnie-masked protestors in bright orange doing the same today. Maybe with an art installation that looks much like a gallows or something. I don't know, I haven't had coffee yet.

And they counted furloughed employees as "new jobs".

If you business shuts down and 15 people have to stay home for a month, and then everything opens back up, 15 new jobs were created. It may be legal for them to change their own definitions mid-cycle, but it reeks of lying with statistics.

Just remember, if Bill Gates and 100 homeless guys walk into a bar, the average drinker is a millionaire.

County has 30,000 workers but 45,000 jobs...points to workers HAVING to work more than 1 job to support themselves.

Disgusting.

One reason why we are in this mess is that CNAs work multiple jobs at multiple homes and this increases spread of disease.

It's the age old argument between prescriptivism and descriptivism.  You know what I'm saying beachside it's become standard form, but you're not saying it in the right way.

Exactly. Personally, I'm a devout prescriptivist, but I try not to engage in religious discussions on Fark.
