MCSO says Miller had gotten into the water and began experiencing symptoms from the apparent electrical current.
Miller's brother, 50-year-old Michael Miller, jumped in the water along with Timothy's girlfriend to help, but they also experienced the electrical current. Bystanders were able to help get Michael and the other person out of the water, but Timothy could not be found.

I felt like I was reading and impossible word problem there knowing that two people died.

Most likely a bad wiring job at a dock...it happens.  I've seen this in Mississippi, Louisiana and some of the many lakes in SW Missouri, who IIRC passed local code ordinances regarding electrical wiring on docks.  Not to mention Ducks can kill you in Missouri (and a few other states, apparently).

Revolting. I'll bet a battery of law suits will be generated by this. I don't have the capacitance to understand this, but I get a charge out of trying. Wire these things allowed to happen?

I want to know how they "secured the dock" to get in the water themselves safely. What did they do specifically? I need details for this shiat, man!

and yes, it's a really badly written article. I have a farked up vonnegut mating ee cummings style at times, but at least I can manage usually to get the point across.

Is there an electric eel in the water or was there something electrical on the dock that got turned off and they don't want to say what it is to give the lawyers too easy a job or something?

They're saying they made sure there was nothing that was going to fry their divers before they went into the water. Probably they just checked and didn't find a dangerous condition at the time, considering that they're saying they're still investigating and haven't found a specific electrical issue yet, and also that their info about there being a current in the first place is coming from the injured survivor. Given the location it's safe to assume that it was not an eel.

/apparently electricity is one of the standard reasons to avoid swimming in a marina

Something creepy just happened. I did a highlight/copy of Lake Pleasant, AZ and then opened new tab for Google maps. I pasted it in there and clicked on the search icon while I sneezed. When the map centered on Lake Pleasant a graphic appeared on the map(kind of high up to the right) saying something like "Wear a mask, help stop the spread of the virus". My computer doesn't have a microphone but I do have my headphones attached to the soundcard output. My phone is also right here on my desk. So which one is spying on me and how did it respond so fast?

They probably turned off the breakers leading to the dock.
It's likely that this will turn out to be a wiring error on one of the boats, attached to shore power.

2020-07-15 3:20:25 PM
As a general rule, once the current gets to the water the fuse/breaker blows and the dangerous condition is resolved.

The bad situation is when a piece of metal on the dock but not touching the water, is hot. A person touches that while in the water, completes the circuit with his/her body and the magic smoke gets out.

Code has required ground fault interrupts on all circuits near water for _decades_.

Don't believe anything you saw on Ozark. TV show producers/writers are bad at science/engineering/electricity.
I don't think the writers of that show in particular, ever left LA.

I've been thinking about it and I have an idea of what happened. I was looking at a lake in Arizona, which is having a surge in virus cases right? So I think I was just getting a Google advisory of some kind, since that was my first time looking at Arizona on Gmaps in a long time. It just so happened that I sneezed before clicking the 'search' icon. So I thought the two things were related but really it was just a weird coincidence. It freaked me out so much that I immediately closed the 'wear a mask' graphic, that's why I don't have a screenshot of it.

As much as I try, I can't think of anything that rhymes with GFCI.
