Just when I think You couldn't be any dumber... five minutes passes.

You know what this is like? It's like if the pilot episode of "Cheers" covered Sam and Diane meeting, dating, and marrying, revealed Vera's (Norm's wife) face, Coach died, Woody was hired, Rebecca showed up, and Cliff went on jeopardy.

The producers of the "trump* administration" really should have paced themselves. It's like they're trying to squeeze eight seasons into a four-year span.

Can't imagine why.

I'm sure he'll pull off some brilliant accomplishment real soon.

I think his billionaire patron might have helped.

BA in Political Science for a job as a politician...sounds kinda accurate.

Is this a case of that biatch eating crackers?

Only the best people

2020-07-14 7:17:41 PM
So they're going to put an unqualified, undereducated, ass kisser in charge of some of the best minds in the country. This will work out really well. I'm picturing Tommy Boy explaining why the M&M's won't melt in the car because they have a thin candy shell

Is that the same internet whiz kid that made millions before graduating high school that all those ads have been telling me about? If so, smart choice!!

Well not like anyone who is qualified will work for him at this point and soil their reputation. After all he rehired Dr. Nazi to work for him.

Remember all the Farkers who cheered on Thiel using his massive wealth to help drive Gawker out of business, via the Hulk Hogan sex tape fiasco? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I'm sure his first decision will be to have the Chinese do all our defense development, because they would be the low bidder.

And 100% of all trump worshipers would cheer him on.

You would hope someone in R&D has some knowledge of the science they are overseeing as well as how government works.

I'm like "those pursed Ted Bundy lips... not quite a smile and not a sneer but unnerving... this guy's an alt-right chud!   No... no I can't judge a person just by their expression in a picture"

And then

FTA: The Pentagon's new 33-year-old head of research and engineering lacks a basic science degree but brings deep connections to Donald Trump and controversial Silicon Valley venture capitalist Peter Thiel.

Let the judgement commence.

still better than George Deutch, gw appointee, campaign aide appointed to nasa hq as a press officer, then went about trying to censor mentions of climate change and non-creationism, before being forced to resign because he lied about having a ba in journalism on his resume.

More of an administrator than a politician, and without knowing the science he's supposed to be managing, he's not much of an administrator.  So no, not a biatch eating crackers situation, more of a biatch don't know shiat about shiat and she's gonna fark shiat up situation.

You put an idiot in charge of things when you don't want them to work.

Which means Trump is doing exactly what his actual boss tells him to do.

putting aside any "no true scotsman" debate, yes, of course. particularly when military meritocracies meet militaries based on patronage. you'll see it in greek and roman histories through to the napoleonic ages.

"In seeking to fill this position we wanted someone with experience in identifying and developing new technologies and working closely with a wide range of industry partners," said Defense Secretary Mark Esper in a statement on Monday. "We think Michael is the right person for this job and we are excited to have him on the team."

How can people like Esper keep saying these things with a straight face?

So a Thiel stooge is going to oversee a bunch of bleeding edge tech and IP, needs + differentiation, that can be leaked to Thiel for future contracts. And just embedding Thiel's shiat wherever he can.

Or Thiel can just buy smaller companies now that he'll know about them.

Kewl.

This actually makes complete and total sense if you recall Charlie Abell, by all accounts a pretty good soldier, who only made it as high as Principal Deputy Undersecretary during W's first term before folks found out his Master's degree was from a scammy diploma mill.  A bachelor's from an honest-to-god Ivy League school?  In this administration, that's almost overqualified.

You know, I don't have a problem with people who have alternative experiences qualifying them for positions.

I do think it's a problem when that alternative experience is licking the shiat off Thiel's dick.

Judging by the pic, this person probably isn't real. Just a name to go with an email address. I'm sure a Russian intelligence officer will be in charge of the mailbox. It turns out that Donnie isn't smart enough to funnel our military development directly to Putin, so they need to establish a fill time back door.

2020-07-14 9:01:01 PM
A relevant degree and he (probably) hasn't yet directly aided America's (overseas) enemies in anything. That put him ahead of almost anyone in this administration.

Wait, does he have any public statements saying the organization he's now in charge of shouldn't exist?

If he doesn't have those, he's the best hire Trump has made yet.

The word itself was invented as satire.
