Hey, now.  For the last 5+ years, I've been able to avoid lots of chores and projects, because one kid or another needed to be at a practice, game, tournament, whatever.  This summer is killing me.  I don't care how clean the house is or how award winning the yard is, I need my excuse back.

Where else can they scream at little kids just trying to play a game?

Irreparably harmed

That word you use....

Just as refusal to acknowledge school shootings shows a desire to please the blood god, these parents desire to please Papa Nurgle.

is death not an irreparable harm too?

Make it club sports, like almost every other country.

I wonder what the stats are of children being killed by covid that play varsity sports vs children that are killed by varsity sports.

I hated high school sports.  I did rock climbing in 74. I've seen lives ruined because parents wanted an "ATHLETE."

My  friend who is an Orthopedic Surgeon took my son on a visit to the Orthopedic Wing on a Saturday morning--to show him a bunch of kids who  would never have a good knee.

Violent sports cripple kids every season.

Aren't you kids stuck at home too? Don't they need to be kept busy?

You realize that Europeans put kids into professional schools for soccer at age 10 or 12, right?

That just moves the problem.

Parents will get just as bat shiat crazy over club sports.

Parents get bat shiat crazy at 4yr olds playing T-Ball put on by the Park & Rec Dept in the summer.

That seems to be exactly what is realized.

They're all 10 foot tall and bullet proof these days.  IOW, teens, and utterly useless.  Except for stripping the pantry bare.

I think of clubs that play sports non-competitively. Doesn't help that I worked for the Students Association for a University, so that association is just sort of ingrained in me.
