And he went right back in as the decision was announced.  Donnie isn't the only Trump sweating bullets right now.

Something interesting in the judges ruling was when he agreed that the book could be extremely damaging to Trump* himself.
But because Robert filed the lawsuit instead of Donny boy*, the lawsuit didn't pertain to his personal grievance.
Basically, if dolt 45* had filed suit himself, the judge may have ruled differently.

The law should go further. If a contract has a single clause that any competent lawyers knows is unenforceable, the whole contract should be voided (the Red Pencil Doctrine, IIRC). And lawyers that write up NDA knowing they are being used to cover up a crime should be disbarred.

I hate to be the cynic but:

Trump-voters don't read.

Everyone else already knew, just by hearing the man speak, that Trump must have paid someone to take his SATs for him.

That he's the evilest, narcissisticest, and shiattiest life form to have ever existed or ever will exist.

"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

So earlier articles had listed several arguments used by Mary's lawyers. Free speech issues, the agreement being invalidated by Donald publishing his own books, and the deal having been forced on her by fraud... but ultimately, while paying a bit of lip service to the free speech argument, seems like the judge ruled that the language of the NDA was too generic to enforce and didn't care about the rest.

Once again the Trump family's reliance on shiatty lawyers comes thru. You'd think the sister that was a judge could at least give a document she signed a quick read to check for legal sufficiency.

15 years after Dr Lister proved that anticeptic conditions saved lives, and lessened infections, doctors poked their dirty grubby  fingers into President Garfield's bullet wound...which he would have recovered from.

Americans are slow learners.

Donald filing the lawsuit would have had to deal with the possibility of finding that there is a pressing public interest in the book (because Donald is POTUS and its an election year, and voters deserve to know who they are voting for).  Robert isn't a public figure, so Mary's lawyers couldn't use public interest.  So they drug him from a hospital to file the suit as a proxy for Donald.

2020-07-13 11:19:24 PM
That's an interesting take, at least in the light of all of the NDAs that Trump makes people sign. Will they be void, or are there conditions between when it's allowed and when it isn't?

Can you imagine if all of the ex-Trump employees were freed from the NDAs they had to sign? It would be beautiful!

She resigned to avoid a massive ethics violation as a judge.  I imagine she picked up about as much in law school as Donnie did in undergraduate business.
