Return? Economy? What about SECOND lockdown?

Trudeau would have talked to Trump after an in depth and thorough briefing on the subject.  However, the meeting would have been off the rails from start to finish.

If only Trump actually understood how tariffs work Trudeau would have a chance of convincing the Cheeto

Jesus tapdancing Christ, will someone find whoever first told Donald Trump about tariffs and just punch him/her?

Nefarious: If only Trump actually understood how tariffs work Trudeau would have a chance of convincing the Cheeto

All he has to do is convince Trump that the tariffs have already worked, because they were so strong and effective.

nah trump will make sure to a huge new aluminium plant build right in the u.s
most likely in a state somewhere that sell electricity at 3 times the price point where making aluminium is profitable and that is currently running all it's power plant past designed capacity already.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most of the world is just content to ignore the US until the potential regime change at this point.

Trump is trying to help the Russian economy export more aluminum.

Like the Kentucky aluminum plant backed by Deripaska and Mitch McConnell that reeks of corruption, kickbacks and Kremlin scumbaggery?

I see that you guys already have Yertle covered.  Question, though.  I haven't seen any news about the future of the plant since earlier this year when they were still trying to raise the last of the funds.  Was Deripaska even going to follow through with building the plant, or did Yertle get played into lifting sanctions on him for nothing?

Can some of these Senate dudes be investigated and brought to trial (if appropriate) in say, six or seven months?

That was a great question so I looked it up real quick. It looks like the entire state was taken to the cleaners.

The company still needs to raise $500 million, which it hopes to do before the end of its current fiscal year, he said.

Good catch.

I'm choosing to believe this is a subtle dig at Trump. "the return of the economy. Canada's anyway." not that he'd get it, and if it was explained to him, he'd just declare it Fake News and double down on Tariffs so he could pass all that incoming $$$$ on to our great Farmers. still though.

That article was the last information I could find about the deal, and maybe I'm just bad at the googling, but why hasn't there been any news since?  It really does look like a Russian boondoggle, doesn't it?  It makes me wonder if Yertle has managed to walk away with a fatter wallet, himself.

Unless Trudeau is willing to help Trump get re-elected I wouldn't think Trump would do anything to help the Canadian economy.

You forget, #MoscowMitch made a deal with Rusal to bring a Russian Aluminum plant to KY by dealing with those pesky sanctions.

We absolutely need tariffs to balance environmental regulations and labor costs.  NIMBY is morally bankrupt.

We need to completely restructure our trade policy from the ground up - but that's a job for a competent, responsible, honest administration. At this point, we are just doing Trump-damage control.

Well, since both sides are bad, I am asking you to please vote Democrat, just as a personal favor to me, since it makes no difference otherwise.

I always split my ticket based on who I think will do a better job.

Right now, I do not think I will be voting for president.
