I'll be honest, I would have never guessed there were public places where you could legally smoke indoors in 2020.

the Phoenix metro area is ringed with Native-owned casinos.  I've been to them for unrelated events a couple of times, they smell like the early eighties.

They always have these ads featuring glamorous, well-dressed middle-aged people having a wonderful time.  I wouldn't wear my nice clothes there, I don't think I could get the smell out.

Something else to consider, if you cna smell smoke, that means you can smell what people are exhaling, which means it should be pretty friggin' obvious that being in the same room as someone infected may be a path to your infection six-plus feet bedamned.

If you smoke through a trache tube you can wear a mask and not get spit droplets all over everyone.

"Let's flatten the curve together" I've been getting the tribal casino ads for a month. I find them in truly bad taste and I'm an offensive person.

Carnival cruise line had a smoke free ship. Problem is gamblers like their vices so it didn't last long.

Kansas. Got stuck on a smoking floor at the hotel. My suitcase still stinks. Next door room apparently chain smoked in spite of all their coughing fits.

My closest casino has a non-smoking section with video poker at good odds and the dirtiest chili-cheese fries in the world. Pulled pork chili-cheese fries!

At least I don't feel hungry when it's hot.

My formative bar years were in smoking bars before it was banned most places. I went back after having been away for years. I don't know how we ever survived all that cigarette smoke.  Back in the day I used to hang my coat over the back of a chair to air out. Now? Nope. Crazy how things change.

I actually like the smell of a good cigar or cigarette.  I quit smoking after 45 years or so in January but I still like the smell.  It won't make me rush out to buy a cigar but I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it.  It reminds me of walking in my uncles house in the 1960's.  Now I've had friends walk in and say "did you quit smoking?" at my house.  It's interesting.

So basically no vices in parallel, but daisy chain is ok.

The smell of a cigar (I love cigars) doesn't bother me. One cigarette doesn't bother me. A bar full of smoke does effect me now, but I put myself there so I get what I get. I don't fault people for doing what they enjoy as long as they don't bother anyone.

I'm of two minds about this subject. 1) 2nd hand smoke is dangerous to non-smokers and smoking indoors around them shouldn't be tolerated. 2) I smoke and finding a place to smoke out of the elements is awesome.

Balancing the two, I lean towards not being a dick that that doesn't say, "Mah freedoms!"

I like smoking, but not enough to wreck someone else's air. I get the concept. Same thing to you unwashed tabletop gamers (gamer funk). And the patchouli hippies. Patchouli is not a substitute for bathing.

/Rant off.

F cigars and cigs based on smell (I smoke cigs). The only tobacco product that anyone thinks smells good is pipe tobacco.

Saying. "I'll be honest" means there are times you won't be honest.  What are you lying about, "AngryTeacher?"  Are you really a teacher?  Are you really angry?  Are you the person Freedom-loving Americans want teaching our children?  I think you're preaching the liberal anti-smoking agenda to reinforce our children's lack of freedom of choice.  You're on the one who "educates" them about inhaling tobacco smoke or Covid-19 mist.  Find your lane and stay in it.

I don't smoke and I like the smell of  cigarettes, always have. I don't like the smell residue it leaves on things and people, but I like it while it's burning.

There was nothing that made gambling seem less glamorous to me than actually visiting a casino.

I did like bright flashy lights and free sodas and parking, though.

I get you. After I quit smoking for the last time, it took a good five or six years before tobacco smoke stopped being pleasant and started being irritating. You know what they say about ex-smokers being the worst anti-smokers, well it's true. I think we become hyper-sensitized. The smell of smoke is incredibly obnoxious to me now. I try really hard not to nag anyone - I'm not that guy and they know what they're doing - but I'll take my leave and get right the hell away whenever I can.

Back on topic, though, I like to play blackjack, and of course my local casinos all allow smoking on the floor. Despite all the conventional wisdom about where one should sit at the 21 table for the best advantage, I choose my seat based on airflow - if the breeze is at my back, that's the right seat for me.

Live 3 miles away from turning stone in upstate New York. They just banned smoking.
On another note  How many people walking out of a casino seem to be having the time of their lives?
