I enjoyed most of it.  I found Shawn to be pretty much insufferable the last couple seasons of the show, though.

I found him insufferable the entire series but I think that's part of his character. I mean, he is basically a very observant man-child. And hilarious.

/I second the Maggie Lawson comment. She is super cute.

I've just started watching season one. Should I continue? Is there a jump the shark moment where I should bail?

Stick with it. It's a fun show overall. I may not have enjoyed the last couple seasons as much as the earlier ones, but I'd still recommend the show.

I was gonna say the first five seasons at least are a lot of fun and "Dual Spires" from Season Five is essential viewing. Fun at least for those who like dorky humor and 80s references. Protip: look for the pineapples.

I farking loved that. And it sounds like you need a big break out role that breaks the shackles of Psych, Mr. Hummingbird Saltalamacchia.

No, and I envy the journey you have ahead of you.  Not in an 'it's amazing!' way but in a 'some episodes are so good you just know you'll probably put them on at least once every year or two for the rest of your life' sort of way (see "Tuesday, the 17th").  With PSYCH, the best part is the second time you watch a really good one because you can gear up for how good it's going to be while still catching bits you didn't see the first time.

The lead got a lot less obnoxious for me as time went on.  Pilots have to show there's plenty of fertile ground for conflict but sometimes that means they air on the side of vitriol.  See also, Monk's first assistant or Sarah & Casey's original relationship on Chuck.  They clearly wanted to set up a lot of room for him and his dad's relationship to grow, so I get it.  But don't worry, they polish some of the rougher edges pretty quickly.  Lassie makes at least as good a foil as his dad does.

Also, you're about to get a bunch more Fark references.  Not Red Dwarf level, but still.

/you know that's right

1. For me, he's correct.  I know he's been in a lot of good stuff, but I've only seen him in Psych.

2. I love the show for itself, and I love the show because it gave me so many memories of watching it with my kids.

3.  The show is highly underrated.

MC Clap Yo hands my all time favorite!

Psych is streaming on Amazon Prime, well worth it if you haven't seen it yet for some weird reason. Lot's of 80's and geeky references too, fun guest stars, and Gus trying to play the straight man all the time is great.

Look up the bloopers of this always funny watching them trying not to laugh.

Speaking of Lassie, man that's some underrated work for the course of the program, I would even suggest that Carlton Lassiter might be the straw that stirs the drink.  Not just because he's a foil, but that the show never "Frank Burns'd" him and he remains a competent and at times great detective.  Also cares very much about his partner and at least begrudgingly cares about these two dopes and their sideshow antics.

As a side note a full watch of the show allows you to someday learn that yes, Gus actually does have an actual job where he is supposed to be.
