I have a feeling it will come back, I also have a feeling COVID in America will leak soon. I predict beginning of August it would.

Successfully tracing hotspots = failure? Surely a critical point of the lockdown was to reduce infection rates to the point that hotspots were obvious, rather than being lost in generally high infection rates. Are we now on change the narrative so America looks less farking useless?

England, not exactly a shining beacon of how to deal with all this, now has spikes of weekly infection (in a population of ~55m) lower than the daily new infections in any state bar five.

Everywhere is farked. All the studies are showing that anti-bodies only last for a few months. That means there will never be a vaccine.

Not to be too alarmist, but life may be changed forever, and nowhere is safe.

I feel like given that they've known for quite a long time that resurgences are inevitable, they'll be prepared to respond with appropriate containment efforts.

It's not like they're American or something.

What a load of old bollocks!  As pointed out above, the ability to identify hotspots because the underlying rate is low enough is a significant measure of success, and one that this festering shiathole of a country will be nowhere near for many months to come, thanks to the Orange shiatstain and his murderous cronies.

There are ways around the lack of permanent naturally-produced antibodies (from getting the disease) with a vaccine, if only to extend the immunity duration a lot. Some vaccines already in circulation only give immunity for a short period (although still far longer than these studies show for natural immunity). Like the Tetanus shot that you need a booster every 5-10 years or so. Recently had to get one of those and a rabies shot.

All that these studies are showing is that these calls for ''natural herd immunity'' by idiots unwilling to adjust their daily lives around a fricken global pandemic are full of shiat (as always).

This comes with a gigantic caveat of if they're able to create a viable and safe vaccine for this particular corona virus, which has been difficult to accomplish in the past (although i imagine there's enough money being thrown at the problem to reduce said difficulty a tad).

TL;DR: To early to say now, could be a vaccine, could not be. Any definitive declaration in either direction is far too early to have any weight to it.

Eh.  Just going by the amount of people who wear masks, the amount of anti-vaxxers we have, 44% of republicans responding to a survey thinks a vaccine (specifically a bill gates/soros vaccine) is to try to insert microchips...., 31% say they're not sure if they'll get a vaccine, 20% said they would definitively not get a vaccine, and 49% would get the vaccine.

For some reason taking reasonable precautions against spreading a virus has been turned into a culture war.

So while things could change if they get bad enough, it's looking like a lot of people aren't willing to get one because it makes them... liberal?

I don't know, but there sure are a lot of stupid people in the US right now, I wouldn't out it past a lot of these people to refuse to get one.

Meh, rabies shiats aren't as invasive anymore.  And you can just get one as a preventative if you work with wildlife a lot.

tinfoil-hat maggie: Smoking GNU: Corn_Fed: Everywhere is farked. All the studies are showing that anti-bodies only last for a few months. That means there will never be a vaccine.

Not to be too alarmist, but life may be changed forever, and nowhere is safe.

This is an anti-methuselah virus. I would be interesting if it continues.

Bah! We are simply being driven from our climate-controlled safe spaces.

Sorry fatties but you are going to have to sweat soon. Say goodbye to your life of cool sloth.
