I remember MTV proclaiming them as the next Pink Floyd.  Chris Martin still hasn't written a double album about a rock star going fascist yet, however.

How about a reality TV star?

White Stripes De Stijl is also 20 years old.  Coronavirus should have taught you that life is too short for Coldplay.

My roommate really tried to get me into them. But as a rock/rap/country/blues dude, I found Coldplay extremely boring and they are just too big of wienies for me. Seriously, they are past wimps and straight to wienies.

Chris Martin spent most of that 20 years drowning in pussy-

scented candles.

The Jack White out front should have told you?

I may be old subby, but at least I don't give a fark about Coldplay. The hell is wrong with you?

It was all right. Not great but all right.

I heard Third Eye Blind on the classic rock station the other day. It made me feel very old and I'm not even 35.

Coldplay sucks, but hearing that the album is 20 years old is a kick in the nuts, which is preferable to listening to Coldplay.

The Bends came out in '95, subby.

In 1999 I was at some bar in Bloomington, IN, watching some band that sucked.  My friend said "If these guys play Third Eye Blind, we're leaving."  Not 10 seconds later "DOO DOO DO!  DOO-DO-DOO DOO!"

People talk about the 90s like it was some golden age of music, but that's because they forgot how much Gin Blossoms there was on the radio.

Hey, jealousy.

Oh, there was absolute garbage in that decade....

But in great part record companies struggled to figure out what people really wanted and as a result put out much more diverse music than they typically would have.

And yes, Coldplay is to rock and roll what Sting solo after "Dream of the Blue Turtles" is to rock.  It's the kinda shiat that has the date home on time, unmolested and with a little extra package of peanut butter crackers in the jacket pocket as a surprise the next day.

No one ever had to explain to their kids that they came into being after getting all hot and bothered at a Coldplay concert.

And no one even knows what the song's really about. I heard a story once -- here, maybe? -- about someone doing that song at karaoke and their eyes widening in shock as they read the lyrics on the screen.

Chris Martin sounds like he ends every song with varying degrees of weeping as soon as the tapes stop. I didn't care for them then and they haven't become any better. "Clocks" was about as good as they got, I think.

I have a distinct memory of listening to this album in the dorm room of a guy I thought was hot.   I borrowed the CD even though I hated it so I had an excuse to see him again.  Never got to bone him, and end up having the song "Yellow" stuck in my head for two weeks.  Lose/lose situation.

They've had some songs I liked,
sure they're a bunch of toffee-nosed gits, but its just music
