I'd use the "My name is 'Reek'" joke here, but the showrunners of the last couple of seasons ruined that and all other GoT memes.

Feeling more and more like he will endorse Biden.

Does that flip Utah blue?

mcnguyen: mactheknife: There are still enough states where he could get on the ballot.

He wouldn't win, but he could help derail Trump.

He doesn't need to be involved in such a campaign.  Ross Perot wasn't in 1992.

Get on it, people.

Ross Perot's candidacy had no effect on the outcome of the 1992 election.  It's Republican revisionist history and an attempt to delegitimize Clinton's presidency.  Perot drew from both parties equally.  Exit polls showed Clinton would have won if Perot wasn't in the race.  Clinton was also way ahead in the polls when Perot had dropped out of the race for a time.

You seriously think Biden voters are gonna switch to... Mitt Romney?

Trump's in it for Trump. And the money. But mostly Trump.
Mitt's in it for the money.
Neither of them are in it for the people. I don't know any Republican who is.

It might only mean so much - but he can honestly say he's the only Republican that voted for impeachment, and he's called Trump out as unfit multiple times. When the time came, instead of justifying POTUS' Lafayette Square clearing, Romney marched with supporters in support of BLM. Publicly defying the "conservative" grift machine and POTUS at the same time.

I don't have a lot of love for Mitt Romney, but credit where credit is due - in what small crevasses it has receded into. But also, yeah, kind of undercuts himself if he won't endorse Biden over Trump in the election once Trump is sealed as the GOP nominee (which he will be shortly). If/when Trump is officially the GOP nominee and Romney throws his endorsement to Biden I'll respect him. If he won't... Well, that's not a good look. And it makes little sense for him.

North_Central_Positronics: Ken S.: I will be impressed with him only if he heartily endorses Biden.

Mittens knows he's the shoe-in Republican candidate if the rest of the party somehow grows a set and dumps Dump before the election.   With everything that's happened in the last 4 years, I wouldn't even call this scenario a long shot.

Hell, I might allow him to break off and found a true Conservative Party or the like after we finally try, jail, and execute all the rest of the traitors that have all but destroyed the most powerful and wealthy superpower in human history in only 60 years, IF he pledges and proves to build such a party to be anything other than the racist, fascist, corporatist, imperialist, warmongering, radical Christian fundamentalist, neo-feudalist Keynsian trickle-down poison that the Republican Party has been all that time and actually represent the true interests of non-racist, non-radical-fundamentalist Conservatives.

But if he declines to do that and remain a Republican, he can rot with the rest of the garbage, because they stopped deserving even one single vote for so much as City Councilman decades ago by my reckoning.

Oh god, I can see it. He'll say he's grown as a statesman and is willing to reach across the aisle. Moderates will eat this shiat up and the GOP will still fall in line.

Basically we'll be farked in 2024

Somacandra: Circusdog320: Then DO SOMETHING besides farking tweeting about it!

He voted to convict the President and remove him from office in the impeachment trial. What more is he supposed to do? He's a Senator, not a dictator.

Short list off the top of my head:

- Stop caucusing with the GOP. Doens't mean he caucuses with the Dems, just don't
- Oppose anything proposed by Trump and his administration on the principle of spoiled fruits.. This includes Judicial nominees
- Go a step further and caucus with the Democrats.
- Avail himself every Sunday for the circuit to oppose Trump
- Support candidates who oppose those that enable Trump (in both chambers) that would necessarily mean endorsing democrats
- Endorse Joe Biden.
- Every time Trump lies or otherwise acts unpresidential in a tweet or other relase, tweet about it in response.
- Call for resignation of sitting senators and representaives who enable trump
- Challenge  other "moderates" like Collins and Murkowski to oppose Trump more fully

This country has a shiatload of work to do to recover from Trump and all the assholes who kept insisting the Emperor's clothes were the finest they'd ever seen.

You're an effing moron if you supported Trump during the campaign and/or voted for him.

You're on my "Fark off and don't ever come back" list if you supported him in any way after the family separation business became news headlines.

That includes you, Mitt. Fark off. Fark off forever. Thanks for the impeachment vote. I'm sure the thousands of broken and traumatized families appreciate your integrity. I could give a shiat anymore what concerns you.

Old meme. From the 2012 campaign, candidate Romney had just made a speech about the Benghazi thing: https://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/13/us/politics/attacks-fuel-escalation-in-presidential-race.html

The speech itself was more or less immaterial -- it was the fact that he was photographed, after the speech, walking away with what appears to be a self-satisfied "NAILED IT!" grin on his face that cost him political capital.
/Yes, yes, I know, 2012 was a more innocent time.
