Ken S.: I will be impressed with him only if he heartily endorses Biden.

Mittens knows he's the shoe-in Republican candidate if the rest of the party somehow grows a set and dumps Dump before the election.   With everything that's happened in the last 4 years, I wouldn't even call this scenario a long shot.

There no chance for Mittens right now.  The Trump base will flip out and probably refuse to vote and make 2020 even better for Democrats.  His best bet is 2024.

Oh god, I can see it. He'll say he's grown as a statesman and is willing to reach across the aisle. Moderates will eat this shiat up and the GOP will still fall in line.

Basically we'll be farked in 2024

Maybe you should have tried a bit harder to remove him from office when you had the chance?

Mittens voted to acquit Trump of the 2nd article of impeachment (obstruction of justice). And guess what, Trump went and did it again.

If you're referring to the vote after the impeachment, he went 1 for 2 and only because enough of Utah hates Donald. It wasn't a principled stance against the corruption in his own party; it was a calculated guess that the big orange dumbass won't be a factor in Romney's 2022 re-election prospects.

I appreciate the fact that he had something on his mind besides party, but that something wasn't country or government or sanity or humanity. It was Mittens.

Trump maintains a 90%+ approval rating among Republicans.   They aren't going to dump him under any circumstance, and any Republican that tried would find themselves losing a primary fight with a "real conservative."

The only reason RMoney gets away with it is because he is from Utah, and Mormons, being actually true to their faith, find Trump kind of repugnant.

Mitt isn't looking to be the next GOP nom.  I think he knows the GOP is as dead as last week's fish.  I think he is looking to lead up a new party of "not insane, actual conservatives."

Only after Donnie didn't let him in the club.

There is literally no example of a Republican doing the right thing before they lost the chance to get in on the action.

Ivo Shandor: Mittens voted to acquit Trump of the 2nd article of impeachment (obstruction of justice). And guess what, Trump went and did it again.

The second charge was obstruction of Congress, for refusing to cooperate with the impeachment probe.  This is abuse of power, the same thing Mitt did vote to convict on.

There is a remote chance that Trump could stroke-out on the toilet while rage-tweeting.

If, at the RNC, they're looking to name a new nominee besides Trump, maybe he's trying to position himself as the replacement, since the enthusiasm for Pence is at Jeb Bush's "please clap" levels.

There are still enough states where he could get on the ballot.

He wouldn't win, but he could help derail Trump.

He doesn't need to be involved in such a campaign.  Ross Perot wasn't in 1992.

Get on it, people.

But, if every smirk or eyeroll I have done in my life was recorded... It would be a bad read.

Ross Perot's candidacy had no effect on the outcome of the 1992 election.  It's Republican revisionist history and an attempt to delegitimize Clinton's presidency.  Perot drew from both parties equally.  Exit polls showed Clinton would have won if Perot wasn't in the race.  Clinton was also way ahead in the polls when Perot had dropped out of the race for a time.
