The Monte Cristo sandwich I had at the Anaheim Disney Sheraton about a decade ago. God DAMN that was good. More desert than sandwich, though. Also, it probably took five years off my life. But the chef that thought it was was a god/goddess.

Caffrey's made a biatchin' Italian. I like the pastrami from Cecil's. The Cubano from Victor's. There are a lot of great sandwiches. I don't think I can choose.

The Mr. Smokey from Yellow Dog Eats in Gotha, FL.

Just the best thing involving pulled pork you can get anywhere.

WTFDYW: Philly steak and cheese sammich from any mom and pop shop on the east coast.

Mama's in Bala Cynwyd PA makes one of the best steaks in the entire philly area. Some visiting friends of mine brought us some from there ...holy carp they're huge and delicious.

Classic Italian combo from Frumento's in Montebello, CA. The 30" version of it is called the Destroyer (can feed several people or a couple of gluttons).

Double decker PBJ.

Oyster Po'Boy from R&O in New Orleans. Dear sweet lord that is a fantastic sandwich. My friend from NOLA says the Italian Beef there is the best. Anthony Bourdain agreed with him.

The ten-and-two Italian with the works on a hard-crust roll, from Vinnie's Italian in Canton MI. The ten-and-two refers to the amount of meat and cheese. They go up to a twenty-and-five, IIRC.

Grill Cheese, sharp cheddar/white bread. Then dipped in tomato soup.

The Matt Cain from Ike's in San Francisco.  I know they're a west-coast only chain but damn. The bread, the meats, the sauce. Perfect.

I'd fly back to SFO for one of these, I think.

Hot?  Media Noche from Sanguich De Miami.  Holy shiat, it's good.

Cold?  Muffuletta from Central Grocery in NoLa.  The original is still the best, IMHO.

Homemade?  Smørrebrød on homemade keto-friendly rugbrød. Yesterday's lunch: Homemade roast beef (sous vide at 132 for 24 hours with salt, pepper, garlic and homegrown rosemary, then seared in beef tallow and sliced paper thin), homemade garlic confit, triple cream brie and homegrown arugula ; and Homemade cold smoked salmon, homegrown dill, tissue thin slices of baby homegrown daikon radish, capers and homemade horseradish spread.

/Seriously, if you're not making smørrebrød, look it up and do it.  Lunches will never be the same.

I just had to Google that to make sure it wasn't a filterpwn. Spelled Booby's, if I've found the right place.

/Second hit was The Breast Center store.

*A1 Burger (a1, fried shoestrings, lettuce, tomato, garlic aoli) from Burger25 - in the fall they have apple cider donut milk shakes that are out of control)

I also like the pulled pork club sandwich from a small Savannah area chain - Carey Hilliard's.

Triple Suicide from the Big Red truck at Cornell U.

Meatballs, pepperoni, Italian sausage, provolone, mozzarella, tomato sauce on a loaf of garlic bread.  Toasted until the cheese is bubbling.

Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world except for a nice MLT; mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe.
