Lololol.  Every news source has a bias, but all the rest of that is laughable.  It's more like fox news and OAN claiming these things are happening but in reality "they're just asking questions."

I dislike cnn, but the charges levied by them by right wing pundits are all garbage because the people who do it are working for organizations that outright lie and their bias is ridiculously over the top.

The difference between putting a left leaning spin on on a news article vs outright lies and not even bother retracting said outright lies when called out is glaring.  Even when fox or OAN "correct" said lies they'll put a small blurb at the very bottom of the article in half font and leave the lie in the body of the article.

CNN will do an public retraction when they're wrong, remove whatever was incorrect about the original article and then also put in the article what was edited and why, including admitting when they're wrong.

FarkBucket18: dkulprit: FarkBucket18: dkulprit: So shutdowns or at least some attempt at slowing the spread IN THE US is bad because people may die in afghanistan and Africa?

When did the right start caring about those people?

Economic impact is going to happen either way, at least one is somewhat controlled.

People have a choice. If you believe the spread of Covid is so uncontrolled, you don't have to leave your house. Hell, I've reduced my chances of contracting a brain eating amoeba by not swimming in stagnant pools in the American South. You, too, have the choice even if others choose otherwise.

Lol.  Smart smart smart.

The leave everything open for the economy is working so well in florida, texas, and AZ.

Their economies are doing great with the opening back up and letting it run rampant.  Here in illinois who has taken a more measured approach is opening back up, people I know who were furloughed are mostly all back.  AND THE VIRUS ISNT OUT OF CONTROL.

I go out all the time.  I'm not afraid to do it at all. But that's because certain states took advantage of the stay at home orders and then did a controlled opening.

Just look at all the countries where the governments and the people worked together to stop the spread, almost all back to normal with minimal deaths, minimal impact on economy.

But you keep thinking just "open all the things!  Letting the virus run rampant will have no economic impact... at all."

The irony being even conservative economists think that plan is stupid and will do more long term damage than a controlled opening while minimizing spread of virus.  I guarantee the long term impact on the states that opened without controlling the spread are going to have longer term negative impacts on the economy than states that did a controlled slower opening.

The proof is already there, and the fact that you buy this bullshiat and don't care about how many people die just shows how much the conservatives don't really care about the people. It shows where the pri ...

I've barely left my house in six months ... I haven't contracted C19.

Your risk being "out and about" is far more risky than my choices. The point is, you do have a choice. Everyone has a choice.

But, you'll find that I'm not demanding you lock yourself in your house for the next six months or shaming you because your choices are actually far more risky than any behaviors I've heard of in a long time. I give you the latitude to do whatever it is you want so long as you're accepting of the risk you are putting yourself and others in.

Me? I'll continue WFH the same way I've been WFH for the last 5 years.

And that's stupid.  Me going out is very controlled and safe.  People don't have a "choice" when it comes to other people's lives.  And that's the problem we have here.  Some people think that their choice to spread a virus is stronger than the government's choice to keep them from doing that.

I can see where you get your news.  Nobody was or is calling for a 6 month lockdown.  What we called for and what we wanted to put in place was "lockdown" (in quotes because it's more like "stay at home unless necessary for food and such"), use that time to build up a contact tracing and isolation policy, open back up slowly while contact tracing and isolation as necessary on individual basis while people are out and about.

You know, kind of like every other western nation did and is doing and they're opening back up with shorter lockdowns than we had?

Why is that so hard to comprehend?  Nobody is saying stay in your house for 6 months outside of right wing pundits claiming the left is trying to steal your liberties.

And if we did that, like was the federal plan, we wouldn't be here.  Instead parts of the country that just opened back up with no plan and no control are getting rocked right now and the economic impact is going to be a lot greater than if they did it right.

Quit watching bullshiat news sources and you might actually learn something.

Companies will petition the government for bailouts, fire off their employees, then pay their executives multi-million dollar bonuses on the stock bump because the executives get to decide how much money they get. Then they'll hire some people, or not, the success of the company isn't really all that important.

So what is the plan, ace?

And this is why we are farked.  You pretend like you know what's going on, but you're clueless and there are millions more like you.  You totally got it, buddy.  We've done nothing at all.  We're not even testing people.  It's insanity.

Testing isn't a plan....

They havent done anything.

Desantis' plan was to contact trace and isolate...

But they havent even done that.

Outside of doctors telling people to stay home the state isn't even following up or enforcing it.

So they had a plan... they're just not following said plan.

Even the White House did.  It was a good plan, but the only states that are following it are blue.

So do you consider "not following the plan" as a plan?

You claim other people are dumb, but you consider testing a plan.

Testing isn't even done by the state.  It's not mandatory.  Nobody is making anyone do it.  They're not run by states, they're run by private corps and insurance has to pay for it.  There is nothing about testing that is part of the plan because if people decided on their own not to get tested the only people who would get tested would be people who were hospitalized.

If the private companies decided it was too costly or didn't want to do it any more those public testing places would close.

plan
/plan/
noun
1.
a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something.

What are they trying to achieve by testing?  Oh wait, the state isn't achieving anything by testing.  Testing should be PART of the plan that involves many other things.  Outside of testing, nothing is getting done and outside of abbott who actually rolled back and is enforcing mask policies (after blocking municipalities from doing it on their own during the most important time during the recent community spread), none of the places where cases are surging are doing anything with that data.

Testing is not a plan without any sort of follow up or action upon those numbers that come back.

You mean nothing?  A plan implies that you are doing something.

Feds pushed it off on states to come up with a plan, some states stepped up and came up with a plan, and others did nothing.  They just opened up with no contact tracing and isolation policies and then when things started getting bad they blocked local municipalities from doing anything, or pushed the onus on local municipalities to do something.

That's not a plan, that's just letting the chips fall where they may.

It's working out so well for them.  It really is.  "Open up at all cost" is not a plan, that's just wishful thinking.

This is an opinion piece.  The reason this country is in so much trouble is that people like you cant tell the difference between that and news.  The entire piece was a guy ranting about how what's being done isn't working or isn't enough.  So by definition, there is a plan.  Not a good one, but there's a plan.  And again, since it's an opinion piece, it is full of bias and light on useful information.  Don't act like this opinion piece is actual fact.  You may agree with the opinion, but that doesn't make it true.

I liked the first line. Yes, it's an opinion piece, and that's a different genre with different expectations regarding proof than a news piece.

That people are doing things doesn't mean there is a plan.

They might be making things up as they go along, or they might have a plan for reelection but not for reducing covid. Making an announcement, such as that they'll follow CDC guidelines, doesn't mean you have a plan. (Unless you're going to define "plan" as "doing anything deliberately.") That's a particularly bad example, since that "plan" has already been dismissed by Trump. That chaotic and contradictory behavior makes it clear that the Trump Administration doesn't have a plan.

So what is the plan, ace?

This is the logic of capitalism. And the Right's version is even more jacked. It says it should be done with as little oversight as possible and no accountability.
See tort reform.
See privatizing of public good.
See deregulation.

But some of you just keep doubling down on this stupidity.

There are plenty of good news sources out there.   And if you pay attention to any of the ones without a "Trump Slant" you will agree with what the CNN article just spelled out for you.

Trump needed a scapegoat, so now fauci is the bad guy that screwed up.... somehow because he gave real info and tried to get more done but trump shut him down and that is now somehow is fault.

But we know people will eat it up.  Trump doesn't even have to give specifics, just make the claim and the same people holding up the signs that fauci was part of the deep state will be blaming him for not doing enough.

dkulprit: FarkBucket18: dkulprit: So shutdowns or at least some attempt at slowing the spread IN THE US is bad because people may die in afghanistan and Africa?

Well, it seems to be one of the sites actually reporting the state of the situation, not government propaganda.

So what exactly is biased or incorrect?  Other than laying the clusterfark that is the US squarely at the feet of the orange shiat flinging gibbon you have as a leader?

It's an opinion piece.  By design it's heavy on bias and light on meaningful information.

"The GOP doesn't have a plan" is fact, not an opinion. You've got all day to tell us what the plan is.

By definition, zero is a number.  What's the plan?
