Stephen Miller, for one at least.  He speaks directly to the demon inhabiting Trump.

But really a large part of it is Trump's ignorance, stubbornness, and inflexibility.  And an EQ score of 0.  He simply cannot understand or adapt to the fact that the weird set of circumstances that allowed him to slither into the White House no longer apply.  He's not smart nor introspective enough to know he must change tactics.  And he refuses to accept that he might be wrong.  All he knows is the cheers from rally crowds.  And he only lets in praise - rejecting any pushback or criticism as invalid and wrong.

Haven't we learned by now that if the Supreme Court rules against something, you just make up some new illegal laws, so that the case can be sent back up the ladder again?

Well, the Republicans learned it.

If he follows the AP guidelines that Supreme's pretty much said they won't stop him.

It was an executive order under Obama done properly, it Trump does it properly he can undo it.

This. He doesn't seem to understand that he's taken ignorant jerkoff as far as it will go in life.

The quotes from the Hannity interview (which I had avoided until now) we're painful to read. I've never seen so many outright lies in such a short amount of words. It's like Trump took his normal lying mouth and put a bumper stock on it, effectively making it a fully automatic lie hole.

Of course they will.  The last attempt wasn't shot down because he couldn't do it.  He just didn't do it the right way.  Although I'd expect the next attempt to still be fought in court and tied up until past the election.

If Trump gets another term, DACA is gone.

2020-07-10 3:38:26 PM
Reminder: his official position is that he supports DACA. He thinks these people should be allowed to continue to live and work in the United States like a majority of Americans do. He just HAS to threaten to deport them so that Democrats will agree to fund the wall. Oh, except that one time Democrats did agree to fund the wall as a deal for codifying DACA via some sort of Dreamers legislation, because Trump claimed he also needed them to agree to lower the cap on the number of legal immigrants by a third and talking about making sure that the immigrants only come from the "right" countries that blew up his best chance of a grand bargain where he was slated to get everything he wanted.

Now he claims he is building the wall without needing Congresses approval, but he has to end DACA for... Reasons.

The supreme court said that the way they did it the first time wasn't the correct way to do it, and detailed roughly what the correct way would be.

This is just them starting the "correct way".

The important question is if that way can be completed before the next inauguration or not.

You know what makes me hate even waking up in the morning? How Donald Trump is able to just ignore reality, lie with impunity, and suffer literally zero consequences. This DACA issue as well as pre-existing condition coverage in the ACA are the two most glaring examples. With DACA, in the past he has claimed he doesn't want to deport anyone, he just wants to "do it right" because tyrant Obama blah blah blah, but that's simply not true. There is no alternate plan for DACA citizenship; the endgame is to deport them all. Similarly with pre-existing conditions, the end game is to save insurance companies money by not covering them.

Why doesn't he get called on this literally 100% of the time the subject comes up? Sure, his cult members probably don't care, but the rest of us need to at all times keep in mind that he's a serial liar who will do the worst possible thing at every turn.

He's more than welcome to do so. He just has to make his executive order follow the Administrative Procedures Act to the letter and not present obvious pretext when defending his order.

FTFA: OF COURSE,this will elicit head slaps from many corners of the Republican Party, but it follows in line with the TRUMP ADMINISTRATION'S consistent political belief that they are somehow at risk of losing their base

This is actually pretty insightful as Politico goes.  Even if Trump is running a base election there's only so much red meat the monsters that support him need. At a certain point (probably sometime shortly after his inauguration actually) his all-deplorable-all-the-time strategy started shedding everybody outside his base while not picking up any new voters in trade.

The PPACA was pretty much unconstitutional from the beginning, it was only Judge Roberts doing a 'Bill Clinton' and changing the definition of the word "penalty" into the word "Tax" that kept it alive. Then the courts struck down the forced medicaid expansion as unconstitutional, and I could go on.  The bottom line is that we deserved a much better law than the ones that the Democrats fashioned at a time where they had both majorities and the presidency and didn't need a single republican vote to do it.

DACA and DAPA were both Obama Executive orders.. and never should have been a thing.  He gave hope to people where he had no business doing do. And we really should be talking about Congress not doing their job when it comes to immigration.  Obama never should have had to do DACA.. and Trump never should have had to repeal it.

The US economy is on life support, there is a raging COVID-19 crisis, and our foreign relations is in shambles.
Hey let's focus on DACA.

What clause of the Constitution allows the IRS to levy penalties against, for example, people who don't file their income tax returns on time?

Serious Black: What clause of the Constitution allows the IRS to levy penalties against, for example, people who don't file their income tax returns on time?

I think its the 16th amendment that allows the IRS to levy income tax.. an amendment that people don't think was ratified properly.  The 16th doesn't say anything about penalties either.

Good thing for those DACA kids the Trump Administration is completely incompetent or they'd probably be on a bus to a country they're completely unfamiliar with. I thank God that Republicans nominated a giant idiot who is completely incapable of implementing his hair brained policy and is so completely inadequate he's been denied several times by a conservative Supreme Court. He will not get another chance at this and when Democrats take the Senate and eliminate the filibuster we might actually get Immigration reform and a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients.

The path should be getting to the end of the line and quite a few fines.. but I will be okay with that.  There also should be a stop date so we do not encourage further bad behavior by their stupid parents.

Folks, is telling Hannity you are going to put an end to DACA and telling Telemundo that you are are going to strengthen DACA and give them a pathway to citizenship telling it like it is?

Also, I'm sure that "bill" would be news to Congress.

It is an executive order to protect US workers and he wants Congress to pass the Dreamers Act but ONLY if it isn't amnesty and open borders in it."

AKA it is whatever you personally want it to be.
