There's a bit of "Fark one goat" about the Cuyahoga River fire. Oil floats on the top of water and it will burn anywhere. It's testament to the enduring humor of Randy Newman's song, but I bet there have been oil fires on water in Louisiana and California.

/Haven't lived in Cleveland for 60 years.

Yeah, but that incident led to a LOT of changes. It deserves to be remembered, if for no other reason than it was a turning point in the views on environmentalism in the US.

I see your point overall, though... And yeah, oil floating is why you don't throw water on a grease fire in the kitchen, unless you want no more kitchen/house, etc...
