Many people are saying it's here to save us. Swine flu will fight coronavirus like Godzilla vs Muto. Swine flu will win, then return to the deep. This will all be over by Labor Day. Believe me.

I don't think that is how any of that works!

One of the deadliest strains of flu to ever make the jump from animals to humans has had a 52.8% mortality rate.
Only 455 people have died from it this century as it is very difficult for humans to catch it from animals and  pretty damned impossible for one human to catch it from another.

But I' bet you that every health professional that dealt directly with those patients wore their PPE.

I had swine flu in 2010. Every single person at work got it before me. I had it for 14 days and lost 15 pounds. I'm lucky it didn't kill me. It was vicious - many notches worse than a regular bad flu. I couldn't even swallow a mouthful of water without barfing hard.

Likewise, that's the point.

Same.  It was probably the sickest I've ever been.  Recovering from spinal surgery was a breeze compared to swine flu.  I'd take one sip of water and barf for like ten minutes.  At one point I couldn't even sit up to puke, so I just laid on my side and let it spew out my mouth onto the floor.  I've NEVER had that happen. Ugh seriously f*ck swine flu.

Exactly. I could barely lick an ice cube without projectile vomiting. I felt like I was filled with hot peppercorns. The night sweats were astonishing. Forget food. Brutal.

And super contagious. I was the last of eight to get it at our store - everyone.
We must have spread it to dozens of customers. I was the only one of us who didn't go to the ER, although I should have. Crappy insurance.

Very contagious!  I got it from my flight home to NJ via LAX to Tel Aviv.  I also should have gone to the hospital.  Crappy parents :(
