I'm about halfway through Destination Wedding in case I need to write a recap. It stars Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), all growed up as someone planning her sister's wedding, but her ex is in the wedding party, and he pays attention to her unlike. Her. Current. Boyfriend.

// There's another Destination Wedding movie with Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder on Prime, and I switched to watching that instead of continuing with the first one, but I could totally write a recap of the first by extrapolating and/or just making shiat up because nobody else seems to watch Hallmark. "Oh, I'm highbrow. I separate my laundry and buy wine in glass bottles."

He will right now. Nothing else is happening besides people dying and Trump screaming while he sinks his own ship. Same things every day. But closer to the election this will get more coverage. There will be tons of articles and ads and people want to know what adults will do if they run the country again.

It could be 110 pages of "All Work And No Play Makes Joe A Dull Boy" and it would still be better and more coherent than Trump's plan.

Not only does Trump not have a plan, he can't even articulate why he wants a second term, on FOX, when they give him the question ahead of time.

"They recommend that Biden commit to moving the U.S. to being fully powered by renewable energy, and meeting other key environmental benchmarks, by 2035. That's far more ambitious than the 2050 deadline he embraced during the primary."

Stuff like this makes me sad, because no matter how much progress Biden makes on this front, there's a 100% chance that some racist asshole gets elected before 2035 and reverses course.

De-shrooming the White House will be great and all, but the unbelievably low national IQ will still be a threat.

This is exactly correct. Voting tactically means using the carrot and the stick: rewarding the party for moving towards you, and punishing them for moving away from you. There's no point in changing your platform to win the vote of someone who always votes for you and approves of you no matter what; there's also no point in changing your platform to win the vote of someone who always votes against you and calls you a fake sellout shill no matter what.

Going full stick is even more useless than going full carrot, in fact, because the full-carrot voter at least needs to be pumped up to turn out for downballot stuff, which means you're likely to get movement on a red-meat issue or two. A full-stick voter is someone you actively do not wantto turn out, which means you're likely to avoid issues and topics they care about.

Don't you see that expanding the ACA with auto-enrollment in a public option with zero deductibles is pissing in the face of every American and is exactly as bad as Trump fighting to get rid of the ACA in the middle of a pandemic? Worse even, if you consider removing the ACA a step towards Medicare For All then OBVIOUSLY Trump is helping on that front while Biden is hurting by making the current system better.

Yup. This is all about what I expected.

Most of the policies I'm pointing out are actually popular and easy grabs for more votes.

Legalizing marijuana is very popular in many areas of Republican-land (especially because they already have farms in which to grow it). It's only unpopular because of racism and Big Pharma sees it as a cut into their profits.

Expansion of Medicare into dental/vision/hearing is an easy win.

Lowering the age of Medicare to 60 is an easy win.

Banning fracking is increasingly an easy win.

Why avoid these policies like the plague?
