I eat out every day and I've yet to get the plague. I know how to properly wash my hands so that may be why.

Stay the fark home.  Learn how to cook.  Demand your government adequately compensate you to do so instead of dumping billions into corporations that don't need subsidy.   The restaurant business has had months to be more creative in how it would like to preserve its mostly nonessential self.

Not sure why there was an adverse reaction to the exclusion of alcohol. You'd think the less people are paying for food the more they'll be willing to spend on drinks.

UK Hospitality, the trade body which represents the industry, "warmly" welcomed the moves, as well as Mr Sunak's plans to stem unemployment through schemes such as creating thousands of job placements for young people.

Yeah, they're going to force the unemployed to go and work at 'spoons to spread the sickness further, since Tim Martin sacked all his employees when the lockdown started.

But we wouldn't have lifted the restrictions if we didn't think we could do so, safely

Show me a video of the queen eating her half off dinner in a room full of random members of the public and I might believe you.

All these people, here in the US or elsewhere, saying it's safe, you ever notice none of them can show evidence of the ones at the top doing these 'safe' things?

Unlike the 1% and their corporations, citizens will generally spend the money they're given instead of hoarding it. And even if it's just 'essential' businesses, that money is still being taxed, and still eventually going back to the government.

If corporations are such great tax generators, why do they need subsidies?

Well they don't actually pay taxes, sometimes. Most of the time. But their workers pay taxes. And the salaries of the politicians in the cities they live. And the workers buy the products they make. So you see, it all works out!

I thought we were talking about a restaurant here? Or this this place some mega sized Luby's?

Otherwise, I would agree on the subsidies.

My area opened up after a month with very few cases.  Then the 2nd wave hit and all the restaurants were told on Tuesday they couldn't open Thursday for 6 weeks.  They had just bought food and plenty of stuff is going to be thrown out. My club hadn't bought much and most of it was cryovaced so it will last a while but I expect it to all go to the staff that comes in to clean.  It might be cheaper giving it away that running the freezers for 6 weeks.
