PENCE: "IT'S TIME TO SEND OUR CHILDREN TO HEAVEN"

July 8, 2020

At today's press conference for the Coronavirus Task Force, Vice President Mike Pence announced a new initiative that the task force was starting. "In the midst of this pandemic, it is time for us to give our children, and all Americans, a better life. It is time for a return to normalcy. Minus a few people. And that is why I am announcing a new initiative, the Protect Our Kids Commandment to reopen public schools."

Pence said that the initiative would be the "first of a series of what we're calling 'New Commandments'", and would protect children by reopening public schools "as soon as possible." Added Pence, "Don't you want your kids to be up there in Heaven with Jesus, smiling down on you? I know I would."

Asked what reopening public schools had to do with Heaven, Pence smiled slightly, saying "The future of our nation is in the hands of our children, and what better teacher to guide them than Jesus."

Cryptically, Pence added "Remember, you can always have some more."

That list is of Senators up for re-election this year who are possibly flippable if we work hard enough.

Of the traitors you mention - Shelby from Alabama, Moran from Kansas, Hoeven from N.D. are not up for re-election 'til 2022

Daines from Montana should be on that list above.

Pretty sure Kennedy from Louisiana is retiring this year instead of running again.

Granger from TX is a Rep, not a Senator, so definitely is up for re-election.

Broke kiddo got a short, waterproof cast today. Hard to believe it's already been 5 weeks since she broke her arm.

I got to review the Texas Education rules for next school year. We'll be doing eLearning to start. We can request a switch to in class between semesters.

Sucks, but it's the right choice.

"He snapped five photos of what he believed was "a really bright comet. Then I realized it had no tail." He was shooting Venus."

Whoops. But it does look like it's at least decently visible in the pre-dawn if you have a clear horizon to the east. I'll have to see if I can haul my butt out of bed early. Unfortunately, sunrise tomorrow is 0524 CST. (And you farkers want to take daylight savings time away...it would be 0424 then!)

Fun fact: Charles Messier created his eponymous list of celestial objects because he didn't want to look at them. He was looking for comets, and his list was the fuzzy objects in the sky that weren't comets.

I was up and looked for it but saw nothing. Too many trees obstructing the view. I'll have to bike a half mile and up about 200 ft elevation to get above the trees. When it moves to the west I'll have a.view from the road in front. But it may change by then.

We are poking at upper 90s here in Denver. After the scorcher the end of May was, I was concerned it was going to do that all June and July.

It mellowed out decently, and we are just now getting back to the heat.

Well, I did get a new laptop. It was cheaper because it uses AMD chips and had "Windows S" on it. When I was told what WIndows S was by the salesmen I walked out of the store.  Windows S only lets you use certain Microsoft apps as I understand it. Any other apps verboten. But since I had someone  with me who knew what they were doing he knew he could get rid of it. I have not heard of anything as dumb in computing as Windows S.

Finally got our urban kayak trip in yesterday evening! It took longer than we thought, and we got pretty soaked trying to figure out how to navigate rapids, but all in all had a good time. Forgot the drain plug on the back which sucked for a second.
Also needed to go earlier season, it was super shallow in spots and we got some skag scrapes.

When I hear 'urban kayak'  I'm expecting traveling through the sewer systems, fighting off giant rats, albino alligators, and what ever else is down there.  But I'm sure you had a very nice time nonetheless.

Otherwise fun! The river was a bit gross, but not much you can do about that.
