In normal states and countries you have mandates where the normal people gladly comply because they know what's best for them and their neighbors. In the Southeast Conference you have Governors asking these morons to "pledge" to do the right thing but being the neanderthal knuckle draggers  that they are do whatever the fark they want to satisfy their selfish instincts. I personally hope they all farking die.

Ah running off neutering the government so that you can get rich and get rich yourself by telling the people government is bad and can't do anything, and that their rights are absolute and cannot be infringed has negative effects when you actually want to do something for the government?

Well color me surprised.  Who would've thunk it?  Such short sighted policies that help you now might have long term negative effects.

you are a puppet: Haha he actually ran ads on Words with Friends before his election that read 'KEEP GEORGIA SAFE" but they were about MS-13. I guess when an actual problem popped up all he could do was ask people to keep themselves safe. Useless pustule

And because this is 2020, gangs are probably doing a better job.

Dear governor of GA...

Until Trump leaves office, people will maintain that he right about this, there is nothing to worry about, and that's that.

So good luck convincing everyone in your state to not be stupid.

No. They don't. They've all be laid off because they cost money. There are newspapers that don't even have photographers any more, they get all their images off of the internet.

I always think of the editor on The Wire explaining the most likely object of the word "evacuated" (hint: it's probably not people). I suppose such editors no longer exist.

Bovine Diarrhea Virus: You ain't stuffing the genie back in that bottle.
The United States has lost control of this situation. Incompetent federal leadership coupled with stupidity and QAnon conspiracy theories has ruined the once chance we had to contain this.
My local city council mandated masks, and the death threats started immediately. I'd say let the stupid die, but it's likely these assholes will get me sick along the way.
We. Are. F*cked

Gee, seems you've given up your mushroom slobbering of trump and the GOP lately.

Hmmmm, I guess both of those actively trying to kill you via covid19 changes the tune, didn't it?

I'm still keeping your traitor troll farkie though, as I'm quite sure if biden is elected you'll go right back to it.

Gotta appreciate the bind these southern governors are in.

They have to tell their people that everything's fine, there is nothing to worry about. Spend money, we've done an awesome job and you are totally safe.

But, also, be a tiny bit afraid of this terrible disease going around... because, if you aren't, then you're gonna destroy us all.

I hereby demand that I be given a Fark account: If workers can't work because of legal declarations from your office, they're eligible for unemployment. If you don't make that declaration, they go to work or they're fired.

I'm sure that's TOTALLY just a coincidence.  They didn't even think of that.  No sirree, didn't think of that at all.

Especially given the typical breakdown of ages and SES that work hourly jobs that would be hit by businesses being told to close vs. salaried employees that would have a better chance of working from home / job continuation.

Totally an Unfortunate Coincidence.  Nothing To See Here.

(assholes, is what I am saying.  Hate-filled, worthless, selfish, piece of crap assholes who are going to get a whole hell of a lot more people killed.  Which is saying a lot, since we're already past 132,000 dead Americans who didn't have to die in the first place.)

This is why the trumpers in GA can say it's a hoax, they are not the ones dying.

Not disagreeing with you, but they are being very short-sighted (of course).  When the hospitals get overwhelmed by Covid patients, the mortality rates for strokes, heart attacks, car accidents, slip-and-falls, and diabetic emergencies skyrocket.  And many, many Trumpers are in the prime demographic for those increased deaths.

This is what I was saying from the beginning.  When people were saying that lockdowns should come from government blah blah blah.  I tried explaining that state of emergency provides support for businesses and people and if they don't do it people will lose jobs, and vulnerable people will either be forced to go to work or risk dying, and sick people will either be forced to go to work because we don't have any sort of forced sick time policies.

But no, people don't get how this actually works.  They just regurgitate fox news pundits not actually understanding what it means or the implications.

I think we already got that.

[Fark user image image 283x116]

Also:

Kemp's office said businesses that commit to the campaign agree voluntarily to follow the guidelines from his and the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Does nobody have editors or proofreaders any more?

I remember not long ago that Georgia was outpacing Pennsylvania by a little, then we surged ahead by a Philadelphia mile.  Now we have things relatively under control, save for a shiatload of morons, and Georgia is stomping a mudhole into their totals and walking it dry.

mrwknd: Yup, Georgia went back to church, farking Covidiots don't know how to pray at their goddamned homes.

Yes, it's the churches.

It's totally not that  every retail store and restaurant in the state, no matter how frivolous, has been designated as "essential." It's not the mobs of elderly shuffling around the WalMart and congregating to malign liberal masks as well as entire extended families complete with newborn babies clogging the aisles. (Where is DFACS?) It's not the fact that there are still open daycare centers. It's not the military bases packing in as many unemployed, desperate young people as possible with instructions to "leave the mask at home." The overwhelming majority of churches have moved entirely to Zoom, but it's those a$$holes who pray driving Covid-19. Thank God you warned us before the Governor orders all students back to schools - which will also NOT contribute to the spread of Covid-19 in your world.

Let's be descriptive, then.  In the past three weeks the % of positive viral tests in Georgia has increased from 8.6% to 9.5% as of yesterday. Now, since I'm stupid, explain something to me, and please use your own words this time.  If your position is that the increase in reported cases is merely a result of an increase in testing, as opposed to an increase in the infection rate, why is the % of positive test results growing? If we aren't looking at more people getting infected at a faster rate, wouldn't the % of positive tests be going down as more people are tested? Or remaining flat? How does your explanation account for the fact that daily hospital and ICU admissions are going up. Again, use your own words instead of posting screen captures.  Thanks.

I can't use my own words when you postulate that, " your position is that the increase in reported cases is merely a result of an increase in testing, as opposed to an increase in the infection rate, "

Does that make sense?

Now we'll try again

You are are looking at this in a manner consistent with a descriptive statistic. All of the numbers you list are based on limited testing. They are not accurate samples of any given population, and you cannot scale them up without complex functions.

This shiat again? Okay, explain why the % positive test results are also going up.

I don't see anything about positive percentage here...

...But if i did I still wouldn't be interested in teaching statistics to the willfully ignorant.

I got bored. This is what you're doing

Thanks.

That's what happens when you don't explain the point you're trying to make and leave people to try to tease it out. So please, explain what you think is so damned obvious instead of just posting screen captures of maps and definitions and then calling people idiots for not picking up on your brilliance.  Are you saying that testing numbers are pointless unless every single person in a given area is tested?  Are you saying that an increase in the total number of positive tests isn't indicative of an overall increase in infection in the population as a whole? Are you saying that an uptick the number of positive cases relative to the overall testing sample isn't indicative of rising infection rates overall?

Seriously, tell us the point you're trying to make.
