What's the good of adopting such tactics beyond turning loose a "legal" group of terrorists on the citizens?

They're not supposed to be overseers so there's your first problem right there. They are supposed to be servants and protectors. Put them back in their place and never let them forget.

Well, no shiat.  Between the bootlickers and the political class who either likes having a police state or are afraid of the police it's a bit, well, challenging.

The first thing to do is get rid of our current "leaders"  they have become totally unresponsive to the will of the people.

Something else needs attention as well. It looks like we need a new way to hire sheriffs. Many suddenly want to pick and choose, the most profitable and politically popular, laws to enforce, or not enforce.

I am Tom Joad's Complete Lack of Surprise: Farking charge and prosecute blue murderers first.

Recognize the use of implements, objects, sprays, chemicals, rounds, and other weapons used offensively against peaceful people as assault and/or battery depending on how the terms are locally defined.

Video from the protests has shown us that the police are willing to fire rubber bullets, fire tear gas, use clubs, use handheld sprays, against people that are not engaging in or threatening violence, against people that are lawfully engaging in their right to protest and to peaceful assembly.

The police's use weapons against members of the public should only be permitted when the police have faced actual peril or in rallying to the rescue of others that are facing actual peril.  Actual peril does not mean two opposing sets of protests shouting at each other either, nor should it apply to the general bulk of the crowd when vanishingly few individuals emerge from the crowd to commit violent acts.

The police well should adopt defensive positions, but those defensive positions are not excuses to take offensive actions, nor should the police be permitted to take defensive positions that violate the right to peaceful assembly specifically in order to manufacture situations that the police attempt to justify their violence with.  The police should not be in the position to declare a protest or assembly as illegal so long as the protestors aren't violating the law.

Any privileges and discretion allowed to the police in the role of public safety must be limited in scope and based on being reactive, not proactive, and violations of the rights of others should be prosecuted at least as harshly as any other person's actions would be prosecuted.

They really need to review the bids when they outsource the government again.

Most sheriffs are directly elected.

It's Jacobin, so I assume that they are going with "retrain to murder the people we think should be murdered."
