"We're looking to establish protocols that protect the health of our guests and crew and do so without undermining what makes the cruising so special,"
That's the joke. The industry can't even do that in the best of times.

and just last month booking were up %650.
But no, His Malignance  and his toadies (looken at you De Santis) had to fark that up too.
Florida, a home to major cruise ship ports and major contributor of outside dollars.

But, since everything is fine and we are doing so well, let's send the kids back to school so the parents can get their lazy arses back to work.

even a month ago, anybody that would book a cruise on a plague ship is _____ ( insert forbidden R word)

This rant is mostly about Floriduh but I would imagine ( I don't know) that Tx.,  La. have cruise hubs.
I do know that Ca. (long Beach)  also has have  hubs for cruises both north (Alaska) and south.
The exact rules in each state, I don't know. I so know that hell will freeze before I will take a cruise.

In a broader context, if you are in airline or cruise stonks, You might want to take the loss and weep. Unless you want to hold for the next four years just to break even.

Your think that they might try to take the lemons and make lemonade by rebranding as "floating quarantine bubbles."

Book like 3-6 month blocks with required and monitored quarantine before boarding, and then everyone can live/telework in the bubble.  They could even replace excursions with tutoring for the kids.

Rebrand trips as Coronavirus Party Cruises.  Guaranteed Exposure!

Given that the sight of a cruise ship on a TV ad makes me picture being at the stick of a Dauntless dive bomber, I'm willing to admit I am not rational on this subject.

But given the endless food waste, the massive pollution, the virus farming, and the astoundingly exploitative and unsafe working conditions for most of the crew, I want the whole industry to die.

You've got better odds swimming in raw sewage.

This is my thinking as well. My whole extended family had a Disney Cruise all set for April 5th. Obviously that didn't happen so we rebooked one year later in 2021.

If they can figure out a way to screen everyone with extensive testing right before you get on board, you suddenly have a safe little bubble that you can let your hair down and take your mask off in. *If* they can get that accomplished.

But if they can't, I have no compunction to pull the plug on the whole thing next year. I'll make it up to my daughter somehow.
