Still, it seemed as though the daredevil soda might meet its end when Coca-Cola re-entered India in 1993 and bought Thums Up from Parle.

The newly branded Lehar Pepsi (Lehar means "wave" in Hindi) hit the market in 1990. The Soviet Union-socialist India's primary sponsor-collapsed a year later.
