Showing that you can take the man out of Florida but you can't take Florida out of the man.

Assnine ? Seriously? He made the right call under the circumstances for all involved.   So long as he returns any money collected to sign up for the event all if fine by me.

Does anyone really think the NFL is going to play this season? Yes, they'll play some games because there's too much money at stake. They might even play 16. But a full season as currently scheduled?

The obsession with TV revenue has been the thing that's ruining the NFL.

Does 17+ regular season games actually make things better? Does 14 playoff teams actually make things better?

When you allow accountants to handle day-to-day sports operations, you get nitwits who are more interested in the bottom line than the product itself.

Honestly, Goodell's tenure shows that the NFL is successful despite their back office, not because of it.

Any idea how long you would be out after catching Covi19?  Probably more than just an abbreviated season.  We don't know how long it takes to recover (apparently longer than than its been around).  From the sound of it, it could put you permanently out (would anyone want Kaep after 4 years even if he was a MVP?).

I'm sure drugs can help you get back to form, assuming no permanent damage makes you less than NFL fit.  But don't expect anyone back fast.

/for sports with minor leagues, this pretty much means you're out of the sport
//including NCAA for NFL&NBA
///but I doubt the big leagues have the means to pressure the NCAA not to ruin the next several years of talent

The only "assnine" thing about it was how it took until now to determine this kind of event might not be a good idea.

It's the American way.  I don't know how many times I've seen a company that I work with, or for, do something to dilute the brand or the product over time, so they can report a tiny increase in profit at the end of the quarter.  This isn't a tiny increase, obviously, but the downside for the players is potentially huge.

It's going to be a big story when a prominent player goes out for a year because of something that happened in the 17th game.  And more teams will have a legitimate chance to vie for playoff spots, so more starters going all out in week 15 through 17, more opportunities for injury, more mileage.  I see why they did it obviously but I was expecting the players to put up a bigger fight.

You're going to see more Andrew Luck-style horror stories if the league goes into 17+ games.

I think they pushed these proposals the same way they pushed Brexit: exploiting the apprehensions of an "I want mine, fark you!" bloc.

I still hope that players protest and strike. The NFL's long overdue for another players' strike.

The players are getting more money which is what they really care about.
The players you heard complaining are the ones with long careers, but the majority of players will accept just about every opportunity to get paid over their short careers.
Most players would trade an extra game with a preseason game in a second because they get so little money in the preseason and there are so many injuries.

WTF is subby talking about?

Why would a pro athlete want to risk an illness that even with mild symptoms could cause long term damage to the body?

Given that he is a 23 year old male in perfect physical health, 2 weeks is a good bet.
