If Trump isn't careful, he might just lose this one so bad not even Russia can help him. He's certainly headed in that direction.

He's 2% away from his floor of support, and 9 points behind Biden with less than four months to go. And he apparently has no plan other than to play to his base.

I agree with his analogy about parents not being able to parent if they hate their kids.  Like literally hate them.  However, a parent can hate what their kids do while still loving them.  And that love compels the parent to try to correct and bring their kids back to the right path.

Loving your country does not mean loving everything about it.  Same with people.  I can love someone but hate what they do. That love translates into a desire for the actions that I hate to stop - to have those people realize that they are on the wrong path.

Put in the context of racism, aside from an admittedly too-large percentage of the population, if asked whether racism is okay, most Americans would answer "no".  Most would say "absolutely not".  The GOP talking heads are side-stepping this issue and answering "there is no racism", which is both patently false and also does not directly answer the question.

Democrats (again, aside from a percentage) take the additional step of recognizing that racism does exist, and that it is built into the system.  BECAUSE they love America, they want the country to do better.

To use his parenting analogy, two parents are asked if their kids are using hard drugs, Parent A says "there are no drugs" while Parent B says "Yes, there are drugs, and i can see that little Johnny is using them, but I'm working with him to try to get him to quit."

Which parent truly loves their child?

A combination of things.

Racial conflict.

Rampant Election Fraud.

Distrust in public institutions(which he seeded and fomented)

Civil unrest

Destroyed Economy

Pandemic treated as it is the sniffles.

The GOP realized that they are caught being traitors and are going for broke.

They are draining the treasury and literally are trying to allow Trump to become a dictator.

What, some people on the left have a problem with a monument designed by a Klansman, carved on stolen, sacred land, depicting the faces of people who were instrumental in land theft and genocide? What snowflakes.

Yeah. The BLM protests have sort of brought the bulk of us together behind their movement. The only real group not onboard are the racist trump true believers and he's pouring gas on the fire to whip them into a frenzy. Problem for him is IMO they're tired for the most part. Even seething racist assholes eventually tire out, get bored, lose enthusiasm, whatever. He's been going full tilt chaos since taking office and it has to be exhausting to keep up with the dozens of targets every single day. One minute you're mean-tweeting Taylor Swift then BOOM it's time to scream the pledge of allegiance at some doctors for some reason. Republicans will still fall in line and vote for him, but I think the number will be smaller this time. I'm hoping maybe enough of us want to return to some version of normal before we all forget what normal looks like.

At this rate, if a reporter accused Trump of being too PC to exercise his 1st amendment rights and say the N word proud and out loud, Trump would do it.

As always, the right wing media is exaggerating for purposes of driving a wedge between people.  There has been some criticism of Teddy Roosevelt on Mount Rushmore, as he was seen as more of a popular choice than an impactful president.  It would be like Bill Clinton being featured if the monument were carved in the mid-2000s.  Time has shown that Teddy deserves to be on there for his conservation efforts and preservation of vast swathes of the American West.

Regardless of your opinions of the men on the mountain, or if you feel the location is problematic, it's an undeniable masterpiece of monolithic art.  Destroying it would not return the area to its original natural splendor.  Although I don't think Stone Mountain is anything approaching the importance of Mount Rushmore in any way (artistic or historic) there's nothing that can be done about it now.  We don't need laser shows slobbering over the confederacy to the strains of Elvis' American Trilogy, but sadly the mountain itself is what it is.

The only thing that concerns me about Mount Rushmore would be some half-baked idea to add a fifth head to the mountain.

Russia can still win by hacking the electronic vote counts in Biden's favor in a couple of swing states (leaving conclusive evidence of it). Trump will have legitimate grounds to claim that the result is invalid, and the Democrats will have to convince the Supreme Court (and the nation) that Biden would have still won without the hacking.

If the native tribes wanted to have Mt Rushmore removed they would just have to petition for Obama to be the 5th face and Trump would probably trip over his tie to blow it up himself.

Oh, and as for your approach of reading your opponent's minds for your watchers so they know what people REALLY think? It's bogus. I read about it years ago, but it took this long to internalize it: the point isn't to be right, the point is to keep your opponent defending himself. Go ahead and be wrong in your statement; it forces your opponent to waste time chasing down details.

That's why they characterize things like dismantling Confederate monuments as being about monuments. Kept people from talking about the Confederacy and the modern right-wing's perpetuation of it. It's how Kapaernick kneeling suddenly was about his alleged hatred for veterans - suddenly no one was talking about police shootings anymore. The truth literally doesn't matter; what matters is you're making your opposition run around denying a lie. They don't even keep it under cover anymore; how often have you heard them say "The President only said that to piss off the liberals?"

Once again: There's plenty we could do about  the Stone Mountain Participation Trophy. The only thing enshrined in Georgia law is that the figures may not be "altered."

Fine. Just stop cleaning the weeds out of it and in a season or two there's nothing to farking see. Boom. It's there and you haven't "erased history" and the ratfarking Klan can go back to their secretive ways. No participation trophy and the rest of it goes away as soon as the various contracts expire or are bought off. And if you really want to get busy with that? The Herschend Family Corporation and its theme parks, aquariums, lodgings and subsidiaries like Dollywood and the godforsaken Harlem Globetrotters are all things you do not have to buy, visit or otherwise patronize.

As for the desecrated Tȟuŋkášila Šákpe, the only thing to do is give the farking land back and let its owners decide. Anything else is a sick, stupid joke.
