Pay him all he wants. 50 million a year if that's what he wants.

It will be glorious in cow town

Sure, fam, you can get as much as Mahomes when you win a Super Bowl.

So... never.

Dak Prescott is adamant that it's a four-year deal. The Cowboys want at least a five-year deal.

Yeah but it's the NFL so, what is that, about 3 weeks guaranteed?

He ain't worth it.  Plus, Jerry won't open the checkbook.

Dak did very well in not signing the low budget offer Jerry "I miss the glory hole days" Jones offered.

Will Dak get anywhere near what Mahomes received? No.

However, it's going to be impossible for Jones to continue to argue for $30M or less and lower guaranteed money, which is the important part.

Dak now has all the leverage. The cowboys can continue to franchise him but after next year, that's going to be way more expensive than what they could have paid him yesterday.

Not being a cowboys fan so who else do they have in the "up and coming QB" department when that tag is more than Mahomes cap hit?

Remember, the cowboys hired a coach that can't spell defense so they aren't really going anywhere, anyway. Losing a starting QB and starting from scratch? Yeah, I'll take another 3 or 4 years of a 6-8 win team out of Arlington to go with their last couple of decades of "success".

LOL

Dak said no such thing & there is no evidence showing that he's pointing to Mahomes saying "I want that." That article was pure speculation. Headline is garbage.

The Cowboys should just let Dak walk after the season. They could give Dalton a deal around what Bridgewater got (3/60) and play to their strengths which is the line and running game.

I like Dak a lot, but I wouldn't pay him more than 33m a year. He's very good but hasn't proven to be great.

Should never have benched Romo

Its the NFL, contracts mean nothing, if you get hurt they cut you.

Loyalty is a myth peddled to fans. Players and owners treat each other with the same ruthlessness and fark you got mine that you see on wall street. Dak's people will be saying this behind closed doors as all the QBs (and ether other player) will have lists of who is getting paid what and they know their exact worth.

Dak may not have but I guarantee his agent is now using Mahomes' contract as a baseline in the negotiation. And he should. His job is to get Dak as much money as he can.

Oh I know. But the headline didn't say that. Personally, I hate "contract negotiations as news" stories because usually, we really don't know what's going on. The Mahomes story was news because of how big it is. But far too often, stories like this are held up as some sort of evidence that a player is a jerk or their ego is too big & it's just stupid. Just a big distraction. And in this case, untrue.

Wait!  Are you suggesting someone would submit a headline that was unfairly biased against either Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys organization, or one of its players?  On Fark?

Outrageous!  If we don't stop this now, next thing you know, it will happen to the Patriots, the Raiders, or even the beloved Yankees!

Yeah yeah yeah, I know. I keep my mouth shut about it most of the time, but I still gotta speak up every once in a while. We all know that Dak hasn't won a Super Bowl (yet). But he's a good QB & he's not a jerk.

No one actually likes the Yankees though, right?

Well. Mining the local sports radio & the sports twitter accounts I follow, as well as my notifications that I get every time a Dallas Cowboy farts, nothing. He signed a franchise tag contract a couple of weeks ago & has until the 15th to hammer out a long-term contract. That's it. There's no back & forth in the media between agents & the front office. Every news article I see is "How does the Mahomes contract affect Prescott?" It's all speculation because no one is talking & there are no sports & people are BORED.

I'm bored too. What would you say to Jerry if you were Dak?

Hello, Jernathan. It is I, Dakota. I may not be the best quarterback in the NFL, but all of the quarterbacks who are better than me are all locked down. Zeke loves me. Fans love me. Yogurt companies love me. I'm a nice person & I stay out of trouble. Now let's talk zeroes.
