It took several trips through as a child for me to realize Drain was just a town, and not *literally* a drain.

And yet... it IS a drain...

The old joke was -

Why is there so much standing water in Oregon?
There's only one Drain.

It's usually just coins and rings that get caught in the trap. Not a whole teen.

This turned out way better than I expected from the headline

The picture makes that field pretty redundant except for statistical purposes.

Special needs teens are a handful.

Used to umpire high school baseball and North Douglas HS in Drain was in my regular rotation. Not a lot there. Funny thing is, ten minutes south was another high school (Yoncalla). Never could figure out why an area of maybe a couple thousand people total needed two high schools.

Teenage girls do this (disappear for a day or two and return home) all the time. I wonder why?

/maybe something to do with losing their virginity

To where? Elkton?

Had relatives in both places along Route F.

Were the schools separate and equal?

It's pretty white out in that area. I did baseball, basketball, and football at North Douglas, Yoncalla, and Elkton High Schools for several years and don't remember seeing one black kid on any team.
