Governments using the branding of particular organizations is probably a bad choice.

Saying black lives matter as a concept is not the same as BLACK LIVES MATTER the brand.

For one thing, BLM the org seems to have received tens of millions in donations. It refuses to say where the money is going though.

For another, it's not clear the political goals of the BLM org. Obviously it was founded by self professed Marxists and an array of anarcho-communists and other extreme leftists are acting behind shield of the movement. The govt flying flags and painting streets with the branding of a political org is highly questionable. Since the name of the org is the wording of a statement that would be heinous to not agree with, it's a move that's almost scarily brilliant.

I'm saying it's a political organization in addition to a social movement and in addition to a phrase that everyone believes in. It's an overloaded term.

If a government starts flying flags of an ideological political organization because the name of the organization is a nice phrase that nobody could disagree with, you need to be suspicious. Especially if people start getting attacked or fired for even questioning it.

If cities started flying Make America Great Again flags, it would be a problem, even if the statement is a nice aspirational phrase. I'm guessing some people would have an issue with that.

Nobody can expect the painted words to remain pristine. The murals are a much larger work of art than words painted on the streets. The yellow letters are only the beginning of that art. The patina of rage that will follow (including the work of these two dipshiats) will be evolving for decades. Varying points of view will be represented. Layer upon layer applied in acts of rebellion will become a part of the American collage. This is a very good thing.

It actually gets better. If she painted over any of the lane lines/marking in her attempt to obliterate the mural, she could also be charged under Vehicle Code Section 21464 VC (defacing or interfering with a traffic control device), which at its lowest level is a fine of up to $5k, and if it can be proved to have contributed to a fatal accident, can rise to the level of being a felony.

That is the reason some white people hate the marches, the protests, the movement itself. They are comfortable the way things are, with them on top and everyone else fighting for the scraps... and I don't mean just economically. It's their system that their ancestors created and they maintain, own and run, and they don't want to see it changed. Part of that maintenance is reasoning that the racial equality in the system which keeps them on top does not exist, and ignoring it when it's placed in front of them.

The newest twist is when they bring up the protests as supposed vectors for the COIVID-19 virus, and try to compare that with the spoiled little assholes whining in the streets about not being able to get a haircut or hang out at a pool party. It's fairly transparent that they don't give a rolling red rat's rectum about the virus or the safety of the protesters... they just don't like the protests and are too cowardly to say so out loud.

Saying black lives matter as a concept is not the same as BLACK LIVES MATTER the brand.

For one thing, BLM the org seems to have received tens of millions in donations. It refuses to say where the money is going though.

For another, it's not clear the political goals of the BLM org. Obviously it was founded by self professed Marxists and an array of anarcho-communists and other extreme leftists are acting behind shield of the movement. The govt flying flags and painting streets with the branding of a political org is highly questionable. Since the name of the org is the wording of a statement that would be heinous to not agree with, it's a move that's almost scarily brilliant.

They did this in the middle of the day with the knowledge that very likely someone would see them.  Their operation wasn't so effective and vast that they would actually cover the ENTIRE thing.

They did it so they would be seen and eventually prosecuted, to which they would pay the fine and that would be it.  And from that they get to be right-wing celebs and lionized by Trump and get a booth/panel at CPAC.

Befuddled: That's right in front of the courthouse in Martinez and really near the jail so I wonder why the cops aren't responding. On the weekends that part of Martinez does turn into a ghost town but still someone in law enforcement should be around.


I think you know why. There is a good chance those people are connected to law enforcement.

That's an actual crime these idiots just committed on camera, without masks.  The latter being amazingly stupid for two reasons.

The fines for this kind of shiat are usually something like the cost to replace the damaged property multiplied by two or three, they're... probably on the hook for over 10k$ for that shiat, closing down a street ain't cheap even if the crew doing the work is.

... hope it was worth it, I guess.  Dumbasses.


Here;s hoping the city pursues it since they have video, faces, and a license plate.
