A sad day for musician friendly vehicles

Good time for Honda to revive the Accord Wagon.  In Si form.

A Camry Wagon with a TRD option could likewise be a fun, practical ride.

Wagons:  Big enough for the family and a dog, small enough to have a conversation.

Everyone talks smack about the minivans, but they are the only handicap friendly vehicle out there!  A blight upon those who think SUVs have more space or look better... All soccer mom's have SUVs these days, you're not fooling anyone with that monstrosity that we all know can't actually offroad

For whatever reason, most of the wheelchair conversion jobs I see are in Toyota Siennas.

My dad loved his Grand Caravan. He would always be the driver for various gold trips because he had the only car that could fit four people and their golf clubs.

I'll never let my 2005 Grand Caravan go. Her name is Myrtle and she's my best friend. She's got 225,000 miles on her, always had room for everything I needed to fit in her to go work at my Scottish festivals, she has a DVD player with earphones and a movie screen in the back for my grandkids, seats that fold down into the floor so I can pick up supplies or lumber. Doors open automatically. Best freaking van I've ever owned.

After making it back from the Delta Quadrant, wasn't it high mileage?

That's what happens when you outlaw the station wagon.

Chevy Express is still hanging out.  Slight facelift in 2003, last major redesign was in 1996.  It's the newest old vehicle you can buy, and they are glorious in both the shear size and an American V8 with rear wheel drive.  If I'm road tripping, it's what I'm taking along with my 14 closest friends,

My sister has a Dodge Caravan and the interior space is staggering. I'd be driving one if I didn't have to tow.

To get the same interior space with a tow capacity takes an Expedition EL/MAX.

Those vans are amazing.

Does anyone make an actual station wagon anymore???

Family had a '67 Pontiac Catalina, no A/C, and the electric rear window died about halfway through its life.  We called her "Big Red", though it was maroon.

My 94 Grand Caravan was the best vehicle I ever owned.  If minivans could handle off pavement driving a bit better I would still drive a Grand Caravan.

Wagons aren't marketed well at all. I only found out about the Jaguar Sportbrake when its production run end was announced.

Jetta Sportwagens are still a thing, but after 200k miles in one, I can't recommend it.

My city musician runabout is now a Honda Civic hatchback, which is the closest "hauling" car you can really find these days.

I remember how ugly and under-powered the first ones were.  My eldest sister had one, even though there were only four people in the family.  It did give them the ability to take my second sister and her family alone.

From experience there isn't a SUV on the market that can haul a family of 7 on a long trip.   Sure the are many SUV that seat 7, but anything longer then a day trip a SUV just doesn't have the storage capacity nor the leg room, that a mini-van has.

It's hard to fit even 5 people in an SUV if there's kids who require car seats or booster seats. I can't imagine trying 7.

SUV's aren't good at anything, my Odyssey is great at everything (unless it requires ground clearance).  We made the mistake of getting an Equinox when our first war born.  To get an infant carseat in the back it could not have a car parked next to it, the rear doors were the size of a refrigerator.  I don't know how many times my wife or I had to back it halfway out so we could put the carrier in the car.  Now if it's pouring out and I have to help the kids get loaded I just climb in with them and stay dry.

CAFE mandates killed off the category, since they specified fuel use per vehicle and didn't account for passenger/cargo density. As SUVs are technically trucks, they didn't have the same constraint and took over the niche (badly).

Literally (and not the new fangled kids meaning) just drove a caravan from South East Texas to Oregon and back.  Was able to fit three peeps and a crap load of stuff in it.  No worries.

Had a Kia Sedona for over a decade.  Kid got it when he started driving.  Crammed all sorts of people and equipment in it over the years.

Sure mini-vans are not sexy you see on the internest, but they get the job done.  Just like an 8 inch dong.

Minivans are the most practical and flexible vehicle there is.

If you are thinking of buying a truck, or an SUV, buy a minivan instead. You'll be happier. Plus, you won't look like a douche. Yes, people that drive SUVs and trucks (and don't *need* them for their job) are douches.

I put 330K miles on our Sienna before retiring it.  My daughter pretty much grew up in that vehicle.
I always said that if big trucks and fast cars are compensation pieces, then the minivan driving man is the envy of his peers.

I drive a Ford Ranger now (and am quite happy with it, to the point of getting worried about having to replace it with a similar-size truck), but I drove a minivan for part of high school (yay carpooling).

I've said repeatedly that if I only ever get one vehicle for the rest of my life, it would be a minivan.
