Oregon sucks too. Lots of smuggling from Washington and a bit from Idaho.

There could also be a firework shortage according to CNN, guess everyone is tired of being locked up and needed to blow off some steam. I have mostly heard them off in the distance and they sounded like big ones too.

I was reflecting this year on Canada Day that I don't even understand firework displays anymore.

Making something that blows up and shows colors everywhere? Man, have you even seen a video game?

Corona brand fireworks, maybe. I wouldn't call it good, though.

I will never understand the adult (without kids) that sees fireworks and oohs and aahs over it

That's too bad.  I love em.  The noise, the spectacle, the chemistry.   A good fireworks show involves  significant choreography to build to the proper crescendo.

Our local minor league ball team would have them every weekend at the end of games.

I live in MN and work in WI. Right off the highway by my work is a large fireworks store. That place has been packed. There was a line to get in. They had a food truck selling cheese curds and brats in the parking lot.

Being from MN, we do go to WI to buy the big explosives, but PSA... its just as illegal to light them of in Wisconsin.  You can buy them there, but you better not use them there..

This is the first year in FL you can legally shoot off the good stuff.  It is limited to New Years, Memorial Day and the 4th but frankly I dont want folks doing it year around anyway.

/Its not like Ive ever heard of anyone getting a ticket or arrested for recreational fireworks before anyway.
//we also haven't had to go to SC for the good stuff in years either.  We have fireworks stores.  You had to sign a waiver saying youll only use them for agricultural purposes which is asinine but that may be gone now also.

I live just to the right of Wisconsin. I have enough asshats shooting things off. I will be annoyed, enjoying watching their money go in the air.

People have lost their minds over this.  Everyone is bored and stir crazy, and NH is a short drive from my house.  I expect fireworks every night through Halloween.

Fireworks were set off between two portable classrooms at 60 S. Ruth St., Battle Creek Elementary School, the night of July 3, 2016. One of the classrooms started on fire as a result (Courtesy St. Paul fire department)

This is why we can't have nice things.

My cousin moved to MS years ago, and for many years on return visits, he would load up on fireworks, because they were illegal in GA.  The family farm sits off the beaten path, and the neighbors are harmless, so no worries there.

He showed up one year with one of those giant Rubbermaid storage tubs, filled to the brim.  The state patrol had confiscated the other one that was visible in the back window.  It was probably a good thing, because the whole top layer was getting superheated, broiling in the sun through that window.  What can I say, he's a Cletus, even if he is family.

They're illegal to own in Massachusetts, as well, but that doesn't stop the handful of jackwads around me setting them off every freaking night two months before to two months after July 4th.

Heh, I didn't know Wisconsin had become that lax on fireworks. When I was a Wisconsin kid we got our fireworks from truck drivers who went through Tennessee.

The one with the giant "Fireworks/Cheese" sign on 94?

That's the first one I think of, but I assume there's stuff on the WI side of the border at all the major east/west highway spots.

When they made fireworks legal there was  non stop fireworks going off on every block for days around the clock, this year not so much. People are either broke as fark this year or the interest wore off. I thought for sure I wouldn't get no sleep last night, but only heard a few before passing out.

I used to live in Hounslow and round Divali it's about 10 days of fireworks. Meh. They're not loud or late, and one year we had some sparklers left over from something and went outside and gave them to a little kid and his mum and dad were really touched. Bless em.

There were plenty last night in Chicago, probably a mix of WI and IN imports. Had to close the front door after the smell got too thick. I'm expecting more tonight.

And to the jackass that decided 2:40 am was a good time to light up one more: fark you, buddy.

From the article, it sounds like in Minnesota fireworks are legal on private property. It also sounds like they aren't legal if they fly in the air or explode. So what "legal" fireworks are they talking about?

Every year the  bros brahs across the driveway in my condo complex start blowing off fireworks and every year the karens next door call the cops.  There will be two police cars there by late afternoon, you can set your watch by it...the date at least.  It's always different bro brahs but I suspect the karens don't change.

There's a fireworks store right off every exit along 94 for the first 25+ miles.
And a ton of State Patrol cars on each side of the border. It's a decent sized fine for smuggling them across the state line.

If they sell beer and ammo as well, presumably they don't sell specialist cheese. I mean... I'm guessing no one's going in there for artisan manchego.

So they're just assuring people they sell convenience store cheese?

Wisconsonites must really love [shiat] cheese.

Here in Washington you just have to know if you're in the kind of neighborhood where people will call the cops on you. Actual local legality is pretty irrelevant. You can get a wide assortment of the tamer stuff from stands that pop up everywhere the week before the 4th, and everything up to basically commercial quality mortars on any Reservation, of which there are many.

It's a legal loophole.  You can sell fireworks in Wisconsin to non-Wisconsin people.  Those fireworks are illegal in Minnesota, but they can buy them in Wisconsin.

I think by "good stuff" subby means the excellent Spotted Cow beer, only available in Wisco.
