72. Keeping score. At the Cleveland Indians' winter festival years ago, Bob DiBiasio, the club's senior vice president of public affairs, did a seminar on how to keep score. As he explained on an overhead projector how to score a complicated play, a nun stood up in the back of the room and said, "No, that's not how you score that. Let me show you how I'd score that play.''

My day, it is made.

I only skimmed the first half but all I saw was a bunch of cutesy announcer talking points, nothing about putting baseball back into baseball or stopping the televised batting practice it has become

47. Umpire Gerry Davis is retiring after the 2020 season. He is really good. So is Joe West, who needs 59 games to set the record for most games worked in major league history.

Joe West is really good? At what?

Ottawa (which is where I live) lost its local ball team at the end of the season last year. MLB is nice and all but I'd be happy if we just got a local team again.

I usually go to Toronto and see a Jays game once a year and it's great fun but expensive and a huge hairy deal getting into the giant stadium and back home again. Even if I lived there I can't imagine going to many games. Nice to watch on TV though.

Here I can ride my bike there in about 10 minutes, all on separated bike paths, and it's $14 for a ticket, any ticket.

Anyway, that's my CSB on that. I miss baseball.

(This was the last game for the team, we won, yay!)

I love baseball. Nice and slow, just like George Carlin said; it's about going home.
Sure, I'll miss the Red Sox on TV and taking a bus to a subway to see a game. I'll miss the Cape Cod League more.I'd only get to a half dozen games but it was pure baseball. Donate a $5.00 and see how well my home-town field has become decent. I learned that I can't play well but can watch pretty well.
Best game? Army All-Stars vs Cape League All-Stars. Big Army Sgt. was throwing heat. He got unofficial MVP.
Friggin' baseball...
A day in the park.

I'm bummed that the Minor League season was cancelled.  Las Vegas Ballpark just opened last season, and now it sits vacant.  What a waste of a beautiful ballpark.

And Mike Trout probably isn't playing this season due to concerns about his pregnant wife.

97. More netting at major league parks. Safety first.

They're putting up the netting when the stands will be empty, or is this a (thatsthejoke.jpg) thing?

Pffft not high enough to kill ya. We jumped into the rivers off of water towers and piers 3/4 that height for fun as teens. Gotta go up to the Bloomfield neighborhood, there's a bridge with ground at the bottom up there.

There was a day we'd get on board with future plans. But there's no way we care about that now.

Now, it's "we'll see"...meanwhile I'm going to keep doing all the things I've been doing that not having sports around has opened up for me.

Maybe if somebody says, "No, really! You should check it out, they totally changed!"
