I thought Boeing had bigger problems to occupy their attention.

Anytime someone yammers on how women can't perform in combat, I respond that he/she has obviously never heard of The Battle of Stalingrad.  The response is usually a blank stare, "Wut?", or that quizzical sideways look with a furrowed brow.

A conversation from that era:

Fighter pilot: "I couldn't do my job if I had to worry about a woman on my wing."

Colonel: "So what I hear you saying is you can't do your job."

People generally tend to either entrench and petrify their views, or they change them as the their stupidity becomes obvious. Mulan was a real person, and I wouldn't cross her for anything. So was Anne Bonney, Tomoe Gozen, the woman that Peggy Carter was loosely based on: Hedy Lamarr.
I think misogyny (any bigotry, really) is based on fear.
I really think firing someone over a 30 year old article is pretty dumb. I wonder why he didn't just say, look it was thirty years ago, get lost.

and to think, he is a PR guy.

resigning so quickly makes me think that he still has these views, or there's a bigger story that hasn't been revealed yet.

It wasn't worth the fight for either employee or employer. Boeing's got enough problems without that distraction.

Yeah, not sure why a statement like 'It was 30 years ago, I was young and stupid and wrong. Women are clearly capable to serve in combat roles and have proven it over and over again.' isn't enough in this case. Must be a sign of the times. No error will be forgiven.

You mean the battle were 100% of the German fighters, and 99.9% of the Soviet fighters were men?

All of my sons and my daughter in law are Marines, and they agree combat isn't a wise use of females in the military.
