BSL messes with my head. I see signing and think "hey I should be able to understand most of this", and then I'm only getting a word here and there.

During the state of emergency here in Hungary I followed the daily updates led by the surgeon general & managed to learn quite a bit of sign language. In Hungary it's a bit odd as the word order's different & they seem to use a mish mash of ASL & bespoke Hungarian signs.
As for BSL, I can muster thank you & hello I think.

Yeah, I understand French sign language more than BSL (which makes sense as LSF & ASL are in the same language family). Watching the interpreter for the statewide stuff here in MN has been wonderful. She's amazing.

I know you are trying to be funny but to be serious in case someone really wants to know: yes deaf people can drive, they just have added restrictions on their licence regarding things like rear view mirrors or hearing aids.

/ I don't know the signs in BSL, but I suspect the shorthand ASL sign for "give me more social distance please" is Fark user image

My apologies. Hope my explanation helped you understand.

Deaf and hearing impaired people can drive just fine but, unless they can use hearing aids, they need equipment like rear view mirrors, inside and outside, to make up for the fact that they cannot hear things like horns and sirens. Those who need to, learn to check all mirrors even more than the average driver. I haven't seen the new technology since I am only familiar with what my Dad needed but I am guessing that anything that alarms if someone is behind you will flash lights instead of sound an alarm to alert the driver.

Considering how many idiots I see driving with earbuds does it even matter?
