My biggest fear is that he realizes he's heading for a massive humiliation and finds an excuse to drop out.

We need him stay the course so that Dems can take over all 3 govt houses and exorcise the GOP demons.

We need radical change to healthcare, taxation, immigration and policing, and to do that, need Democratic control of House senate and Presidency.

If Trump bales and a more moderate GOP candidate is chosen, the GOP might retain the Senate, blocking reform

The candidate they are publicly floating for 2024 is Tucker Carlson.  There is no way that human skin suit will be considered "moderate".

Let's save the self congratulation until Nov. 4, and just hope and pray that there will be occasion for it.

I would agree. but there is the combination of polls that say 94% of voters have already decided how they will vote in November and a full 50% of voters have already determined they will not vote Trump. Which gives him quite the needle to thread, given that the idea of softening or moderating his rhetoric to broaden appeal is out of the question.

I think buying votes via stimulus is his last chance at "swing" votes. But I don't know if "congratulations you won't starve to death for another 8 weeks" is much of a winning message.

2020-07-03 7:23:28 AM
Hillary's leading in all the polls. No way she can lose. It's in the bag. This country would never elect Trump. The numbers say a Trump win is impossible. Hillary Clinton will be the first female President. Nobody takes Trump seriously. Trump supporters are a tiny minority but there aren't enough of them to win the swing states.

Yeah, I've seen this movie already. The ending sucks.

This is where I learn, once again, that fark has an out-sized power in our elections and people gloating on it (anonymously) will somehow lead to Donny's reelection? Is that like how when we criticize Biden we are helping Trump, somehow?

Truly some farking magical thinking going on here.

Are you a lone voice in the wilderness where no one can hear you? No?

So it has an effect, just one you can't measure.

It doesn't have to take a large number of people, and they're not listening to you exclusively.
