Unfortunately, with all this attention at high levels of government and in the media, it makes the position of an O5, or possible O6, untenable.  He'll most likely have to retire. It's just the way the military is.

I can't pretend to understand all the ins and outs of military service but I would have to assume he would still be welcome in the security community in some fashion.

Being famous isn't a great asset in the intel world. The military is conservative, not necessarily the political label.  He may have s future as an analyst on CNN or MSNBC, possibly.  Or in the contractor world but I'd bet he's about done as a green suiter.

I don't believe Senator Duckworth has thought her cunning plan through for application in future administrations.

Well, that doesn't sound very hard to do. To not block something and just let it go through, I mean. Just ask the Seahawks.

I seriously doubt a brigade command is in his future, even if he has a future. Even though he did the right thing, he's too hot to handle.

The teal shame is the problem is not him, it is the fact that whatever happens with his rater and senior rater will be viewed through a colored lense. No one can get a fair shake around him anymore.

Strictly a upward problem, but that is a killer problem for a Colonel's career.

Yeah ,fight the good fight for one guy that gets paid well and has good insurance instead of fighting for the rest of us to have health insurance during pandemic.

This kind of idiocy doesn't look as good to those outside the echo chamber as it does to those within it.

I'd be more worried that they come up with a "special" job for Vindman called the Uriah Mission.

Yeah, it's got my hackles raised too, but there's this:

Trump removed Vindman from his position with the National Security Council after his testimony, but Duckworth is pushing to make sure that the administration does not deny him his expected promotion to colonel.

We're dealing with someone who would actually do that. Look what he did to McCabe. We're also dealing with republicans, who have outright proven themselves to be horrible enough to just up and set the precedent themselves later whether we bury a hatchet or not.

So yeah, she should go for it.

One of the hallmarks of Trump as a commander in chief is that he's so famous and well liked the world over, that America has a great advantage of anyone starts anything with us

Officer promotions already take forever a year or 18 months of waiting isn't unheard of.  I'm not sure intentionally delaying these 1,123 promotions for political fodder is the best move. seems she was an O5 herself I wonder what she would have thought about someone playing these types of games with her promotion.

It's not about the money so much as saying that Trump was wrong to do what he did.

Oh, and he has a twin brother who was sacked at the same time, for no other reason than they look alike and Trump would have blown a gasket if he'd thought he'd seen Alexander Vindman still around.  Something needs to be done about his case, too.
