This really upsets me. The number one rule for all of baseball is never bet on baseball. I don't think Pete Rose should be in the HOF but you can't justify it as an excuse anymore.

FTFA: "I view baseball as arguably the most disruptable sport when it comes to innovation around betting,"

Is that maybe because baseball literally had a team throw its championship due to betting influences?

Why not?  Ty Cobb is in the HOF and he was a terrible racist.  Rose was one of the best hitters in the game.

538 ran thousands of simulations based on varying numbers of games and playoff teams.   No combination helped the Tigers or Orioles.

You mean the alleged racism that was pushed by two biographers of Cobb whose books have since been discredited as being a pack of lies? Was Ty Cobb an asshole? Certainly. But his being called a racist doesn't seem to hold much water anymore.

There's a difference between fans betting in games and players/managers participating in games that they're betting on.

See also:  Mario Soto.

I think you may be surprised how quickly what's left of professional sports ethics degrades now that the (even bigger) scumbags are controlling an income revenue
