Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world - except for a nice SLT - spam, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the spam is fried and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that.

I still make spam and bean burritos that I learned to make from the mother of my old friend Javier when I lived in SoCal.
You may scoff, but I have fond memories of his Mamasitas' burritos after they had been warmed on the manifold of a Hyster 250 forklift.

I'm going to teach you how to make tacos al pastor with 7-Eleven/CVS/corner food mart stuff

....

1 (12-oz.) can Spam, sliced thin
½ pineapple or 1 (15-oz.) can pineapple in juice (not syrup), sliced thin

4 dried guajillo chiles, stems torn off and seeds discarded

I don't think I've ever seen dried chiles at a convenience store

Well I'm not using the little packets of hot sauce from next to the nacho cheese machine.

That's not al pastor ... okay, yeah, that is al pastor after all.

I'll take three.

Spam is too salty for me, even the lower sodium type.

It's just canned salt pork. That's not exactly stunning or strange.

Pop the tin, fry it up, put it on rice or bread. You're welcome.

When i was a kid, Spam Loaf Hawaiian from the Betty Crocker's New Boys and Girls Cookbook was my go-to recipe. Not that far off from this.

JFC, this site... I honestly read that at first as "How to make sperm tacos," and became horrified.

Then I read the article, and thought, "y tho" - and I like Spam. I'm not wasting good chipotle on Spam. That's like making a foie gras Oreo, FFS.

Or chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. I'm lucky if my Safeway carries them in cans.

...and then I forgot I read the headline this morning, and became horrified all over again...

WHAT.

That should be everywhere now.  But if it's not, Amazon's got you.

These days, everything I get is from Amazon - I don't go out any more - but, yeah.

If you cook Spam the way you'd cook a bird liver, you'll get really close in tastiness--it's delicious fatty and mushy....just watch where the salt comes from in the process.  Let the Spam take care of your halides.

I'm sorry, but I have too many memories of growing up being poor and eating Spam cooked in an electric skillet to find this palatable.

However, I'm not one to yuck someone's yum, so more power to you.

Ya, ok it's pork, and that's a burrito staple and all..But it's WAY WAY WAY too salty for my taster.
I've never been able to gag Spam down...More power to ya for those that like it...But good lord limit
it to once a year or something for your bodies sake..All that fat and salt is terrible..I'll take my
burritos with less than ideal pork cuts either as carnitas off the grill or cooked forever in a pot in
a tasty sauce that makes the meat chunks fall to little shreds..
