Yes you can, and yes it's good

But

Harder to get the butter to melt (and serving melted butter means it will all be gone by the time it gets to you)

(puts on food nerd hat)  The taming of fire to cook food is actually the reason we were able to evolve as we did.  Our stomachs should be too small to hold the food necessary to provide enough energy for our outsized brains.  Between the extra energy necessary to both chew and digest raw food, if that's all a person was able to eat it's quite likely they'd starve to death.  the Promethean act of conquering fire is the most direct act that allowed us to become the dominant species on the planet.

I always tasted the uncooked corn first, how else do you know when it's ripe?

As a kid, the trail I took to one of my friends house was through a cornfield. When the corn started looking about right, I would try a piece each time I walked that trail. When it was tasting good and sweet, with a nice juicy bite, it was time to have a keg party and cook some corn. (Well, we were having keggers all summer in that field, just a few featured corn on the cob)

Confused at the asinine tag subby.  Raw corn has a lot of good uses in various dishes.

Yeah, you don't HAVE to prepare quite a few things. But it does make things easier to digest and tends to eliminate quite a few micro organisms that we don't want.

Grilling corn on the cob has always seemed like a waste of time.  Two minutes in the microwave, in husk, and the silk just drops off.

/more room on the grill for brats or burgers or hot dogs or ...

In the original Planet of the Apes, there's a scene where they're eating raw corn on the cob.

So as a kid, I absolutely had to try it too.  But I must have had the wrong kind of corn, because it.  Was.  Terrible.

I hate cooking and I hate the way cooking food smells.

I *can* cook. I just strongly dislike it.

One of the most eye-opening books I ever read was Catching Fire: How Cooking Made us Human. It's like the best scientific review article and science history book you've ever read. Long story short, we're like apes with underdeveloped intestinal tracts, baby teeth, and fetal skulls because we cook our food. Cooking allowed us to not spend eight hours a day chewing and led directly to our bigger brains, complex society, and a bunch of other important things.

Along the way we lost the ability to do well on raw food. Experiments were done feeding people a diet of raw fruits and vegetables that would turn any ape into Jabba the Chimp. Humans lost weight, showed signs of malnutrition, and the women's body fat dropped to the point where they lost fertility. Millions of years of evolution have made the raw food vegan diet incompatible with reproduction and life unless you process the hell out of the food and by preference pre-digest a lot of it by fermentation.

Street taco trucks cook their corn, and since it's the most delicious I assume that's the only correct way to cook it.

Cilantro is key in most things. But I tend to just cook tex mex anymore.

Tacos and lettuce wraps were my go to in college, living in Texas for a couple years ramped the skill level up,

I'll pepper crust steaks for fajitas, brine chicken breasts for 45 minutes in salt and lemon juice to make q crusty skin of awesome before letting it touch the grill, beer batter fish and make up baja slaw,

Migas... migas are the key to life.

A little bit of char (or a lot) makes everything taste better. Caramelized sugars or something. Maybe it is just the contrast between what is charred and what isn't.

Except bacon. No char on the bacon. That grease goes from yum to yeech in two seconds.
