Bigoted assholes in Carmel, IN?  The f*ck you say!

"The only lives that matter are their own and the only power they seek is their own," Rothrock wrote of Black Lives Matter organizers. "They are wolves in wolves clothing, masked thieves and bandits, seeking only to devour the life of the poor and profit from the fear of others. They are maggots and parasites at best, feeding off the isolation of addiction and broken families, and offering to replace any current frustration and anxiety with more misery and greater resentment."

Holy shiat.

Rothrock apologized Tuesday night in a message sent to parishioners and later posted on the church's website,
"It was not my intention to offend anyone," he wrote, "and I am sorry that my words have caused any hurt to anyone."

Wow.  That's even more of a non-apology than I expected.  Not to mention a lie (you didn't intend to offend the people you called maggots and parasites?), and completely insincere, and almost certainly written by someone at the diocese, signed with the Bishop standing over him like a f*cking gargoyle.

Yeah, there's a reason I will never, ever live in Indiana again.  Considering its geography, I may end of having to drive through it at some point, but I will be double-god-damned if I move there again.  And I'm sure Indiana is glad to be rid of my deep blue bleeding heart liberal lesbian ass, too.

"We must also be fully aware that there are those who would distort the Gospel for their own misguided purposes," Rothrock wrote. "People are afraid, as I pointed out, rather poorly I would admit, that there are those who feed on that fear to promote more fear and division."

Not mutually exclusive.  He wasn't suspended for raping anyone.  If that's proof he hasn't raped anyone, then no Catholic priest has ever raped anyone.  However, it may be likely he didn't rape any of the protesters, as they are adults, not children.

In vino veritas

"It was the booze talking" just means "I was drunk enough to be comfortable saying what I really think"

Ah, the old conservative "apology" - I'm sorry YOU were offended by what I said that was perfectly fine to begin with.

same here I was one of two Indiana Democrats and a Jew, and I used to be treated like I had the plague by everyone around me, told I was not a real family member and f*ck them all, those dick bag f*cks. The worst family members were the ones who live in Carmel. Mean as hell.  I live in Canada now, f*ck them

The priest who led our youth group back in the '80s was a pothead.

He was the coolest, most laid-back priest I ever knew.

Weed should be a sacrament.

But yeah leave Marion county and it's red necks and bigots almost everywhere  .

Considering his problems with the bottle before (had to resign a previous appointment, presumably for pastoral discernment, because of DUI), likely.

Nonrepeating Rotating Binary: "The Bishop is being sent to an upstate farm parish where he will spend his days playing with your old dogs and other disgraced priests."

I don't think Rothrock was in any danger of becoming a Bishop.  But, the "sent to live in the country", yeah, that happens.  Little extreme-nowhere German Catholic town with like a dozen bad apples in exile.
