(ESPN)   The NFL shortens its preseason to just two weeks. Should have happened in 1970 and without a pandemic as cause, but we will take it   (espn.com) divider line

First and fourth preseason game gone?  Christmas is ruined.  I hate 2020.

Well if you aren't going to be able to charge full price to the preseason games, what's the point of playing them

Do a lot of teams charge full price for preseason games, and is that for both season ticket holders and single game tickets?

/my team charges half price, still a rip-off perhaps, but not full at any rate

You're doing well with only half price.

I thought most teams charged for them like they were proper games.

The preseason games are listed as games 1 and 2 of a 10 game home sched.  No distinction.   They said they got rid of Week 4 because it's worthless from the coaches only playing guys who are going to be cut anyway.  Now they'll just do that for the final preseason game anyway, if there is a preseason.   Or a season.

Every NFL team charges full price for the two preseason games when buying season tickets.

If you like the NFL's new shut 'Shortened Preseason' get ready for their next release 'Shortened Regular Season'.

And then hold on to your seat for the NFL's next absolute banger 'Cancelled Season'.

It's amazing that we're still thinking of this happening. South Korea didn't start having professional sports until their infection rate was near zero. Ours is back up over our first spike and we're still thinking of having an NFL season? Why? I mean other than money.

Why would they cancel the season?

I'm not sure you've met the NFL owners. There is nothing else

Prediction: the season ends up so shortened that the NFL decides to institute a 32-team single elimination playoff that will be rigged to end in a Tampa-New England Superb Owl.

I don't know about the TB/NE Super Bowl, but I could definitely see a 32 team playoff, especially if the season was shortened by less than half (and depending on if games are cancelled at the beginning of the season or the end).

I remember when the CFL cut back to only two preseason games. It means the first two regular season games are kind of ragged, with lots of penalties.

dark brew:  Every NFL team charges full price for the two preseason games when buying season tickets.

That is not true, and hasn't been true for years.

Oakland didn't charge full price for the preseason games in their season ticket package the last few years, and Las Vegas does not either.

But I appreciate your tone of expertise, even if unfounded.  ;-)

I went to the Hall of Fame game in Tokyo in 95 or 96. Stationed in Fuji and they bussed us in. Totally empty and we talked to the Niners cheerleaders the whole time. It was very weird though. Must be like when rich people hire famous bands for small parties.
