Now I'm picturing Nuns holding beers like in Oktoberfest.

Here in Madison we're calling them Drive-Thru Taprooms, but yeah, churches and breweries teaming up with farmers markets to keep everyone afloat.

I scanned that as Drive-Thru Tampons. I'm going to flagellate myself for a while.

Traditionally, monasteries and nunneries were as closed a system as they could make themselves.  And sociopathic temperance is a Protestant hobbyhorse.  So, if the monks and nuns wanted beer or wine, they made it themselves.  It isn't strictly necessary in the modern age - and there are many fewer monestaries and nunneries - so it isn't common, but to be surprised by it is like being surprised that there are libraries that repair book bindings.

There is one nun still doing it in all of Europe apparently so I imagine it would be a surprise if more decided to make beer.  Monks brew beer in the US also.
