So the parents had been isolating and had been fine, except for the son, who kept showing up to check on them every few days, can't seem to figure out where they got it. Gee, maybe the son stopping by every few days, who may have had it. Congratulations kid, you may have inadvertently killed your parents.

So that maybe some good will come of their death? I'd be okay with that. The US can't get this under control because too many see these deaths as an acceptable price for freedom. Acceptable only because it doesn't affect them personally.

My MiL has been complaining that nobody stops by anymore..... she's in her 70s and has all kinds of medical problems and takes tons of pills everyday.  Yet she doesn't see that nobody coming over is a good thing.

Die.

Super sad.

Unfortunately, only when most people in the "2nd wave" states* know someone who died - or know someone who lost someone - will they take it as seriously as we have here in NJ / NY. We passed that point over a month ago.

That means dropping the political bullshiat about "Masks = Tyranny" and other nonsense the dipshiat from Queens is propagating.

*this is still the first wave, just moving into new territory.

You know, some countries are starting to get this virus under control. Your country has fallen further into being a real fascist ridden death trap.

So I mean, I don't really like fascists. Hating fascism is still mainstream in my country.

fark you and be wary of taking your fascism further into the open. Your end is coming. Don't leave your bubble.

(With apologies to Lin-Manuel Miranda)

We'll Come Back
-------

You say
This pandemic virus will take all your parents away
You cry
And blame me for the world I'm not leading while these people die
It's not so bad
Remember that there's other things that make folks go away
Now you're all getting mad
Remember I'm a stable genius with a plan

We'll come back, soon you'll see
COVID's not what it's cracked up to be
We'll come back, time will tell
So don't listen to those doctors yell
Temps may rise, folks may fall
But it doesn't bother me at all
'Cause when push comes to shove
I will do whatever comes to mind
Because no one will call my bluff

[Da dat da ya da] x1

Those business leaders tell me that they can't go on
If we don't keep the people working, we'll be gone
We must protect our profits
And doctors, they're not prophets
Don't listen to false prophets
Don't interfere with profits
Not ever
Or ever
Or ever, or ever, or ever

We'll come back, like before
Even if this place looks like a morgue
We'll be young, we'll be strong
After all the old and weak are gone
Once they're gone, don't be sad
Just because they were your mom and dad
'Cause when push comes to shove
If it's money versus people
It's the money that I love

[Da dat da ya da] x2

Texas Lt Gov "Dan" (Kill Granny) "Patrick" is a national treasure and needs to be shared.  We really need to find out his real name, and send him gift wrapped back to his native Baltimore where he can instruct the locals on more effective drive by shootings and other death bringers which obviously aid the economy.

Less pollution through investments in modern technology and less reliance on fossil fuels.  Population control through education and access to family planning.  You know, as we've said for decades.

But you knew that.  You just like being a dick.

Went through almost similar thing with my parents this year.
My 85 year old father who had beat cancer twice, had a heart valve replaced in late December.
Was doing good and two weeks later his edema got worse.  Pulled 3 quarts of water off him.
His kidneys pretty much shut down. Passed 2 weeks into 2020.  My mother couldn't be there
because we had an ice storm that night/morning and she was devastated.  She started shutting
down, had a stroke the last couple days of February, started to recover, then had another stroke,
and passed in the hospital 2 days after St. Pat's day.  Together 65 years, married 63.
When my father got cancer in 2016, I started to prepare myself that if one passed, most likely the
other would to, and it happened that way.  Miss them both, but they are together for eternity.

I might have missed it, but the son doesn't seem to be a jerk, just someone who felt he should check up on his parents. I mean, you ain't wrong, he almost certainly gave it to them if they were quarantining the way they should, but we don't know much about the situation. We don't know how they were getting groceries. They might have needed checking in on. I'd cut him a little slack until we know more.

Tragic as it may be, it's probably true. And THAT is what these damn Trumpers can't figure out. It won't kill you, it will kill your parents, grandparents, immunosuppressed family members, friends with asthma, etc. And that is why it's so inherently selfish. But that's what we have to live with now. It only matters if it affects them.

I wonder if they'll have second thoughts after they kill off a significant part of the Republican voter base, which trends older and rural? Nah, they'll never put the two together. They'll just wonder why their candidates, who were shoo-ins before, can't win elections, and why the neighborhood looks much different from the way it used to.

Anecdotally, the majority of resisters I've encountered are Trumpers, as advertised on their MAGA hats, t-shirts, and cars. And that makes sense, because their hero is publicly calling it a hoax and claiming it is a conspiracy to destroy his Presidency.

That said, there is ample evidence that young people of all stripes are disregarding social distancing because they want to party, get their drink on, etc., and since young people think they are immortal anyway they have no concern for catching it, and by extension spreading it.

The difference between the two is that while kids show depraved indifference, Trumpers display actual malice. Kids are stupid. Adults should know better.

The alternative would have been a lack of food, missed prescriptions, and other old people things that would have gotten them to the same place.

At least it was someone who cared.
