That was a great story and I agree, Beef Stroganoff is funnier.

I stopped by to say that nobody seemed to be whining about is death, but rather celebrating a very full life & lamenting that an era is nearly over... however 'that' was a great story.

Thanks Subby

Great story, but I wish he had known how to spell Sid Caesar's name right.

My dad took me to go see "Blazing Saddles" when I was nine years old. I f*ckng loved that movie.

A few years later we watched "Your Show of Shows" on cable and my dad explained the history of these genius comedians to me-Sid Caesar, Carl, Mel, even Woody. It all made sense to me then.

To this day, I honestly believe "Blazing Saddles" is the greatest movie ever made.

I love Carl, but like I said in the other thread, when Mel goes, I'm gonna absolutely lose it!

It is so rare that someone's heroes actually meet up with one's expectations. Even more amazing is when they live up to it and surpass. Nice story. That phone call must have been one of the greatest moments in his dad's life.

The interesting thing about the story is that Carl, Mel, and Sid were grateful to relive the memory of the bit. It was a gift that went both ways.
