It's not.  It officially left in January.

It's common sense. Until we either get our shiat together (via control measures or vaccine), or the thing finally hits everyone and there's no one left to infect, we're a danger to the rest of the world, so we don't get to leave.

Frankly it's either vaccine or "herd immunity" at this point. We're too far gone for anything else to slow it significantly.

/can't help but think this was the Trump administration's plan all along.

Welp, the vaccine is a pipe dream and chasing it means they're skipping funding other therapies so herd immunity will be a total sh*tshow.

Fatalities are one thing, but potential long term damage to the bodies of the sick, huge portions of the population too sick to work for 2-3 months at a time....

/guess it'd be a great time to become some kind of nurse or homecare professional for partially disabled patients

The one good thing Trump never really has been is a warmonger.  I think it's because, at heart, he an inwards looking, Pat Buchanan-style ultranationalist.  If things happened "over there", wherever "over there" is, he simply doesn't care, and certainly doesn't want to be blamed if a bunch of US troops die fighting "over there".

There may not be long-term antibodies for this virus. You may be infected, live through it, and then be re-infected (and not necessarily from a mutated version) six months or a year later. So to think that herd immunity is the easiest course, well no. First, it'll kill a lot more people. Second, we may never get her immunity, much like we don't get herd immunity to the rhinovirus, or the norovirus.

If acquired immunity is temporary, fading after some number of months, permanent immunity won't be a thing without mass vaccination.  This would be an infection that cycles and reinfects and remains a problem.

All countries should be closing their birders completely.  Have special areas where cargo ships and truckers can drop off their loads.  All airports should be cargo only.  With the crews of the ships, trucks, and cargo planes strictly quarantined and not allowed off the areas for dropping off the cargo.  And snipers set up to take out any cargo crew members who try and run the blockade.

No travel that is non esessential.  World wide.  Hell, all non essential people need to be welded into their homes, permanently, world wide.  We need to eliminate the non essential class of people.  Only essential people doing essential things from bow on.  If we need more essential people, we need to order the ideal breeding candidates to breed and produce the right person for the essential job.  No more self choice for gamete joining.  Only directed breeding as mandated by the government.

Americans believe they're unique in the world, as do many others. Only difference is that they're protected by 2 huge oceans, and only 2 neighbours, one at at the south and one at the north, imbuing a sense that they're untouchable by the tragedies of life. COVID 19 is a wakeup call that we all breath the same air and drink the same water, and geographic distances mean nothing in terms of safety. Wake up America, this isn't a movie you can just stop watching because it makes you uncomfortable.

PPE works a whole hell of a lot better at keeping you from spreading it to others than vice versa (and most effective when everyone wears it, as Excelsior mentioned above).

Also, healthcare professionals are taking personal responsibility, but that doesn't help when it's f*cking getting stolen as they're trying to obtain it.

Also no proof that the/a vaccine can produce immunity for more than a few months.

Therefore we need to lock the whole earth down, HARD.  Weld every non essential person into their homes.  And if they refuse, painlessly euthanize them.  And make sure only essential people are ONLY doing essential things while outside of their homes.  Until all the potential pandemic viruses are beaten.  Even digital ones in case the essential people start cyborgization or even complete silicon transition.

Any country refusing to euthanize the non essential people should be nuked into complete submission to the world health organization.

True, but other countries like the EU don't care what individual states are doing -- The EU determined that the stats show the US as a whole isn't doing nearly enough to stem the rise of Covid-19, and american tourists would pose an unacceptable risk to the EU population.
A couple of "good" states don't negate that, since the borders between US states are fully open and it's trivial from someone who lives in a "bad" state to fly out of the country from a "good state".
Hence the continued blocking of all American travelers into the EU.

Frankly it's either vaccine or "herd immunity" at this point. We're too far gone for anything else to slow it significantly.

/can't help but think this was the Trump administration's plan all along.

Trump's? It's the people, always was on the people, if you need someone to tell you to wear a mask then sorry about your luck.

What else would explain the Trump administration actively sabotaging every farking measure that could have been taken? From stealing PPE to holding indoor rallies to making wearing masks a culture war issue, everything seems designed to get people sick as quickly as possible.

/remember, Trump even asked "why can't we let it wash over the country" earlier this year, which should have been a big farking clue right there.

Lol, why are the Dems so upset that trumpers are getting themselves sick?

You sound like a Trumper, given that you don't know the purpose of the masks, or how Covid-19 infects (most Americans don't know how it infects to be honest).

Lol yeah ok Einstein.

joker420: Ketchuponsteak: joker420: themindiswatching: joker420: themindiswatching: trerro: It's common sense. Until we either get our shiat together (via control measures or vaccine), or the thing finally hits everyone and there's no one left to infect, we're a danger to the rest of the world, so we don't get to leave.

Every loss of life is sad, some more than others.

And given that you aren't even aware of the purpose of the mask, well, not a great loss.
