Flagg99: So the essence of his comment was to not let the movement become something dangerous (a movement for superiority rather than equality), and people are upset about that?

Note that he said "we must ensure BLM doesn't become" Black lives better. Not that it had. Not that it was even going that way.

farking reading comprehension, how does it work?

The problem here is we take one small step towards racial equality and Terry is oh so  worried about black people taking advantage of all the good white people.  Yeah let's not go too far with all this equality black people. Save some for later.

It's funny when Twitter is blocked and you try to read an article that's mostly Twittter posts and it's just blank spaces.

That's the point right there. Black Lives Matter is not, has never been and is not in any danger of becoming about anything other than equality, except in the eyes of white supremacists who falsely claim it to be. So why, other than to confirm the lies of white supremacists, would Crews make their point for them?

Just read various things about her on Wikipedia and I'm not sure that Brooklyn Nine-Nine would care for an endorsement.

It's a PAC based on Marxist idealogy.

NY BLM Leader, "if this country doesn't give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it."

And I love the thinking if you disagree with BLM, you are a racist.  that's what freaking got us here.  let's create more division.  Good thinking there champ!

Ehh no.

Every movement needs to be reigned in. The first statement from the movement for black lives decided it would start making some disparaging remarks about Israel (nothing about the neighbouring countries btw) and had some pretty choice anti Semitic words to fit into its statement.

The women's march's black organisers also pushed out the Jewish originators of the movement and also brought up anti Jewish conspiracy theories to justify it.

So let's be a little aware of what has been said in the past and be vigilant. Because if they are willing to come down like a ton of bricks on Terry Crews's statement and then say they agree with the sentiment at heart, doesn't work for me.

If the movement comes across as hostile to any other race, people SHOULD be vigilant, and call it out, and feel free to speak of the direction of the movement.

Welcome to today's episode of "nice guy tries to say something nice, but is clumsy about it, so let's all pretend they're actually terrible because reasons."

I don't think there's a problem with Crews' logic, only a misreading of what #blacklivesbetter is intended to mean. You start with bad information, it doesn't matter how perfect your logic is; garbage in, garbage out.

I'm glad people are confronting him about the statement. If he can be brought into the fold, it is a good thing. I doubt there's anything behind #blacklivesbetter that he'd be against, so he'd naturally be in favor of it if given the right initial information.

In this online world of hot takes, it's way too easy to misunderstand something that is limited in length like a tweet.
