Now, why can't Democrats simply do this type of damning political ad?

Seriously, why are Republicans the ones hitting Trump right in the balls with every one of these ads they drop?

So far it's way cheaper, and way more effective in reaching the GOP base.

Democrats worry about people's feeling and sh*t.

The way to get to Independents and disaffected Republicans is to smack them in the face.

They get that.

Obama got that, but with his own style. He cared about people, but also did it with and air of no BS... Case in point was the "Proceed, Governor." Campaign version Obama showed the Dems how they should do it.

Groups like this will specialize in the hit pieces.

Trust me, there are enough pissed off people in the middle to keep making these every day until the election.

Maybe they think this some sort of atonement to make them feel better about being complicit in the last 4 years

gopher321: Odd career move - Navy Seal to ER doc...maybe he was a medic?

Or maybe he got out and used his GI Bill wisely.

Maybe he had seen too much combat, and decided he didn't want to kill anymore, he wanted to save lives.

I've seen people go from military/law enforcement to healthcare on those grounds.

I grew up with a kid whose greatest ambition was to be a Deputy US Marshall.  He'd got his wish. . .then after a few years he quit and he's now an RN.  He had to shoot someone in the line of duty.  It really affected him. . .hard.  He wasn't a killer at heart, and even though it was a "good shoot" and considered justified by the authorities, he just couldn't bring himself to carry a gun anymore, so he left and went to nursing school hoping to save lives instead of taking them.

I know a few old army buddies who got out and used their GI bill for nursing school or some other kind of healthcare profession on the same logic.  If you just joined up wanting to be a hero, but realize that what you're doing isn't heroic. . .then I wouldn't blame someone for wanting to make a career change.

They want Biden like they want a hole in the head... they just know that Trump is pure stupidity and evil and mostly stupid...
They will not stick around and work with the Democrats. As soon as Trump is gone they will work on rebuilding their party, but good luck it's pretty farked up right now.

I'm not worried about them in the long run. Use them to get this sh*t done. We could maybe do it without them... but why take the chance?

You shouldn't turn your nose up at a hand offered in friendship just because you don't see eye to eye on every single issue. We're going to need the help of folks like this to win in November and frankly that's all that matters right now. We can, and will, argue about everything else afterwards.

I dunno.  Both need to work well under pressure, both need to work long hours with little sleep, and both need to be comfortable with being covered in someone else's guts.

Medics in the Special Operator realms spend like 50 weeks in medical training. They try to get them to trauma centers so they can see gun shot wounds and all that...

They are basically third world doctors. On long missions, that is all they have. Just refine that in med school and boom, Doctor.

Also, some people with advanced degrees like doctors do decide to join up because they are insane and love the challenge.

After the shiat that I saw/did when in the Army and deployed, all I wanted was a career where I ended up helping more people than harmed.  Good for him for going the route he did.

/\/\/\ This. Obama's "Please proceed, Governor" was my favorite part of those 2012 presidential debates. It was so cooly polite and professional and yet snarky at the same time. The look on Mitt Romney's face was so perfect that I almost felt sorry for him. He had the same expression as Wile E. Coyote the moment after Roadrunner has outsmarted him (yet again), and he's 12 feet off the edge of the cliff just before he starts falling to his doom on the canyon floor. That awful second of realizing that the trap has been sprung and the jaws of disaster are closing in on him. Priceless.

The people these ads are targeting will probably tune out the message if it came from a well known Democrat. It's much more effective coming from someone already in their ideological tent. Plus, it doesn't cost the DNC a cent, in an election where they will almost certainly be outspent. Win win.

Because the people that need to be swayed aren't going to be swayed by a Democrat.

So deal with that issue then; right now focus on voting Trump out, and hopefully McConnells majority also.

Everybody talks about how great these Lincoln Project ads are, but nobody talks about the ad agency behind those ads. Which agency is producing them? Who's the art director? Because, you know these things don't make themselves; there's a creative team behind their production, and it's not composed of a bunch of disaffected Republican never-Trumpers. They just provide the money to get these ads made.

The Democrats need to hire a good ad agency to go after McConnell and other Republicans in the senate. Let the specialists (ad agency creative teams) do the work. Tweeting and making prepared statements will not get the job done.

Seems like this whole thing is predicated on the idea that the New York Times is telling the truth which is far from a sure thing. I seem to recall a whole years long thing they pushed about how Trump and Putin were in cahoots.  Which is it? Or is it both?

I love how he has to announce "I'm a pro-life gun-owner" so they all know they can trust him, he's one of them.

I'm going to ignore the obvious wedge issues and identity politics and say good for him, though.

I had a former boss who started life as a MIT theoretical physicist - only to find out after graduation the only job he could get was designing bombs.  Said "nope" - signed up for Harvard Medical School, and viola, ER doc.  Had his own Doc Without Borders emergency response team.  Super cool, super smart, quirky nerd.  Smart enough for scholarships for both degrees.

"Ally" doesn't mean "BFF forever and you unquestioningly go along with every idea the other guy has". "Ally" means "you're both pulling for the same end result, so you may as well pull together until it's achieved and not shoot each other in the foot in the meantime".

When someone offers to help you do a thing, especially if it's something you're not 100% confident you can do by yourself, you, uh... might want to at least consider accepting their help instead of trying to shoot them in the foot.

Wait till he realizes that Trump had help from Russia to win the 2016 election and that he's been taking russian mafia money since 1987.

Trump is 110% traitor and the IC should have Rosenberged his ass a long ago... the only reason he's not dead or in prison for life as a traitor is because he's probably a FBI asset.
