Speaking as a working research scientist, I have to say, "GFY, Rand".

Good things about COVID:
Do to the quarantines, the environment is recovering some. Shows that the Earth will probably be fine once we finally off ourselves via our own dogged stupidity.
Um... I'm sure there's a second good thing around here somewhere...

He wants something positive?  How about this?

"Well, we aren't all dead... yet"

Its funny because the things we need to do have people like Rand Paul saying we can't do them. Like we need to have everyone were mask and we need to limit people going out to bars and restaurants and yet according to people like Rand Paul we can't do those things.

Good effects?

That it has a disproportionate impact on Trump's base?

Good news, good news for you, hmm?

Oh!  Social distancing makes it less likely your neighbor can punch you in the face.  You should appreciate that, Rand Paul.

Not really good news for the rest of us, but beggars can't be choosers.

Good things about COVID:

Without the distraction of everyday life, everyone now knows that:

- A lot of police are corrupt pieces of shiat
- Black lives really do matter
- Trump is actually a bigger traitor to America than we knew
- Republicans are spineless bastards and the scum of the Earth

Good things coming out of COVID-19? I've actually wondered about the rate of common colds and influenza infections since people started wearing masks and social distancing. LMGTFM

Well, I hope it overturns the elaborately stupid Canadian court case that makes it illegal to wear a niqab while giving testimony about sexual assault. Now that white Christian Canadians will want to wear masks in court, perhaps a translucent niqab will be allowed. Oh wait, probably not, since niqabs are not traditionally N95 - they aren't niqab enough. Sigh.

Just so that you all understand Rand Paul got his M.D. from Duke University Medical School. I guess infectious diseases was not part of his medical school curriculum. Oh and Duke sucks!

Oh, you want POSITIVES?
Check the covid testing results (which are unlikely to be accurate, insofar as they are mostly low-balling).
Lots of POSITIVES there.

Huh. Sounds like Rand got doctor-splained to.

It has given us some much-needed perspective on a few issues in our society, such as the relative importance of truck drivers and restaurant staff vs. politicians and celebrities. It has also made a strong case for some form of universal basic income, introducing money at the bottom of the pyramid so that everyone can have access to food and shelter as those dollars trickle up to the corporations and billionaires.

paul must be the shiatattiest doctor that every lived.  He even makes bill frist look average.

Of course, when I was at the university, the pre-meds were generally fairly stupid. They always took the simple science classes because they were far more interested in getting a high GPA rather than actually learning science.  Doctors are not scientists, they are well-paid technicians, who swap out parts until something works.

I feel very negatively about COVID ever since it let Rand Paul live. The guy has a damaged lung! It was an easy get. This is one of the reasons why I no longer support feckless global pandemic. Come join the magma revolution and, like me, support Super Volcano.

This is how they should have framed it:

Some things you CAN do:

Make your home as comfortable as you can.

Take up all those hobbies you stashed in the basement.

Talk to your children.

Plant a garden. Even a windowsill garden will work.

Research all of the above on the internet and LEARN new things.

Clean your home.

Find new and more utilitarian ways to reduce boredom.

Be creative.

Nap. (You always wanted more naps. Now is the time to take them.)

Clean your guns.

Practice taking apart and re-assembling your guns.

Dig ditches.

Build a backyard patio.

Make your own bar.

Shop on line for your new garage bar.

Make masks.

Clean your oven. You know you have been putting that off for years.

Surf the internet.

Sharpen your knives.

Make lists.

Shop online.

Organize your spice cabinet.

Wash your floors.

Read a book.

Clean your guns.

Order target guns and practice at home.

Learn a new skill.

Mow your lawn and throw the scraps on your neighbor's lawn.

There's all these things we CAN do, Senator. WHY DID YOU NOT RECOMMEND THEM?

snapperhead: Huh. Sounds like Rand got doctor-splained to.

An advanced education (even or maybe even especially in medicine) is more a testimony to one's perseverance than to one's intelligence.   Also, many Doctors think that being a Doctor makes you an expert at everything (see Carson, Ben and the pyramids).  I had a friend who is now a heart surgeon (haven't seen him in years) who we had to remind constantly "righty tighty lefty loosey", hopefully heart surgery does't involve screws.

They were one of the first areas to lockdown completely. Mostly because there are no hospitals down there. You even have to have your appendix removed before living down there.

Hey, Rand, the country you're loyal to isn't doing too great with the coronavirus. The United States isn't doing too great either.

All you need to know about Rand Paul's "libertarian" hypocrisy: Trump claimed "absolute power" and Rand Paul stayed mute.

For those that didn't go to Twitter and watch the video I encourage you to do so. Fauci owned him there.

I imagine some arsekickings are very satisfying to deliver.  Paul's neighbor got into a world of shiat for what he did.  However, he did get the satisfaction of a job well done.

This likely depends on the country you go with, but is currently not true for the United States.  But yeah, they shut things down pretty effectively and have been able to get some people in recently with lengthy quarantines throughout the process.
